Embedded hard drive
The MFP includes a 40 GB embedded hard drive, which provides a virtual mailbox to keep sensitive documents
confidential, proof a document before releasing the remaining copies, and store frequently printed jobs for easy
retrieval, such as expense reports or invoices. For more information, see “Convenient job retention features“ on
page 14.
Extended functionality
A Foreign Interface Harness, open EIO slot, and host USB port allow you to expand the MFP’s
capabilities with easy access to additional HP and third-party solutions. Get investment protection
with access to next-generation TCP/IP protocol support with IPv6,

optional Gigabit Ethernet
network compatibility, optional IPsec security, and memory expandability up to 512 MB RAM. HP
partnerships enable access to integrated third-party solutions such as additional forms, fonts,
barcode printing, and business process solutions for document capture, job accounting, and
security.
HP’s Direct PDF printing
With the MFP’s direct PDF printing solution, PDF files can be sent from any device,
without using PDF reader/converter software. The MFP directly renders PDFs to printed
output, bypassing conversion processes used by other product-based solutions, which
increases printing performance and removes possible conversion errors. Direct PDF
printing enables driverless printing of PDF files, allowing printing from devices of all
types, such as mobile phones, handheld computers, PDAs, and notebook computers.
Workgroup multitasking
Experience effortless multitasking with enhanced memory and HP technology. Scan a new job while the MFP is
processing another scan or print job. After the current job is completed, the device will process the one in
memory.
