An Error 53.1y.08 generates if HP LJ 4P Plus memory is installed in
an HP LJ 4.

• An error has been found in the RAM (or ROM: 5L only).
– Power cycle the printer.
• The memory card is defective or incompatible.
– Turn the printer off; remove any additional memory; then turn the
printer back on. If the message clears, replace the memory card.
• The formatter PCA is defective.
