Install the server into the rack ("Installing the server into the rack" on page 33).
13. Install the drives ("Drive options" on page 36).
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless
all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
14. Power up the server (on page 20).
Smart Array cables
To connect the cable option:
1. Power down the server (on page 20).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
o Extend the server from the rack (on page 20).
o Remove the server from the rack (on page 22).
4. Remove the access panel (on page 23).
5. Remove the air baffle (on page 24).
6. Install the storage controller ("Storage controller installation guidelines" on page 50).
7. Connect the Smart Array cables to the storage controller.
8. Route the Smart Array cables along the side of the system board towards the front chassis, and then
connect them to the drive backplane:
o Cable routing from the primary PCI riser cage
o Cable routing from the secondary PCI riser cage (optional)
