Removing the battery pack
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 26).
2. k ("Extend the server from the rack" on page 25, "Remove

3. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 30).
4. Remove the PCI riser cage ("PCI riser cage" on page 38).
5. Disconnect the cable, and then remove the battery pack.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

Recovering data from the battery-backed write cache
If the se er fails, use the following procedure to recover data temporarily stored in the BBWC.

Pe form one of the following:
Set up a recovery server station using an identical serv
or BBWC in this server. (HP recommends this option.)
Find a server that has enough empty drive bays to accommodate all the drives
server and that meets all the other requirements for drive and array migration.
Power down the failed server ("Power down the server" on page 26). If any data
e, a green LED on the module flashes every 2 seconds.
Detaching the cable causes any unsaved data in the cache module to be lost.
CAUTION: Do not detach the cable that connects the battery pack to the cache module.
3. Transfer the hard drives from the failed server to the recovery server station.
