Overview

This document describes the HTP High Efficiency Condensing Wall-Hung Gas Boilers, designed for residential and commercial heating applications. These boilers are equipped with an ignition device that automatically lights the burner, eliminating the need for a pilot light.

Function Description:

The HTP Wall-Hung Gas Boilers provide high-efficiency heating for residential and commercial spaces. They are designed to be wall-mounted, saving floor space. The boilers use a condensing technology, which extracts additional heat from the exhaust gases, leading to higher efficiency compared to conventional boilers. An internal electronic microprocessor PCB monitors and controls the boiler's operation, ensuring safety and optimal performance. The system includes an overheating prevention device that shuts down the boiler if the water temperature exceeds a set limit. These boilers are designed to operate on Natural Gas but can be converted to Propane operation by a qualified service technician using a specific conversion kit. They are intended for closed-loop heating systems.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: 120V / 60 Hz. It is crucial to connect the boiler to a properly rated power supply.
  • Gas Type: Factory set for Natural Gas; convertible to Propane.
  • Water Temperature: Water temperatures over 125°F can cause severe burns. The manual advises caution and checking water temperature before bathing or showering, especially for children, disabled individuals, and the elderly. Temperature limiting valves are available.
  • Safety Features:
    • Overheating Prevention Device: Factory-installed to shut down the boiler if water temperature exceeds the limit.
    • Electronic Microprocessor PCB: Monitors operation and initiates shut-offs (blocking errors or lockout errors) in case of malfunctions.
    • Gas Shut-Off Valve: Manual valve to cut off gas supply.
    • Pressure Relief Valves: Designed to release pressure if it exceeds safe limits.
    • Combustion Air Contamination Prevention: Strict guidelines on avoiding flammable or corrosive materials near the boiler's air intake to prevent damage and hazardous flue gas formation.
  • Combustion Chamber Insulation: Contains ceramic fiber material, which can convert to cristobalite at high temperatures. Users are warned not to open the combustion chamber, as this should only be done by a qualified service technician.

Usage Features:

  • Automatic Ignition: No pilot light; the burner lights automatically.
  • Thermostat Control: Users can set the desired temperature via a thermostat or zone control.
  • Front Cover: Removable for maintenance and access to internal components.
  • Gas Shutoff Valve: A handle to turn the gas supply on or off. Users are instructed to use only their hand and not tools to operate this valve.
  • Error Display: The control panel displays error codes (blocking errors or lockout errors) to indicate specific issues. Blocking errors clear automatically, while lockout errors require a manual reset.
  • Blower Operation: The blower continues to operate after combustion stops to vent remaining exhaust gas, which is normal.
  • White "Smoke" from Exhaust: Normal, as it is water vapor produced depending on outdoor temperature.

Maintenance Features:

  • Owner Maintenance (Daily, Monthly, 6-Month):
    • Daily: Check the area around the boiler for flammable materials.
    • Monthly:
      • Check/test carbon monoxide detectors.
      • Visually inspect exhaust vent and intake piping for blockages, leaks, deterioration, or damaged bracing.
      • Visually inspect primary pressure relief valves and discharge pipes for weeping or leakage.
      • Check the condensate drain system for flue gas leaks (indicating a dry condensate trap).
      • Visually inspect for leaks around internal boiler water connections, heat exchanger, external system piping, circulators, and components.
      • Operate pressure relief valves to ensure they are not blocked and seat properly.
    • 6-Month: Remove the boiler cover and perform a gas leak inspection.
  • Qualified Service Technician Maintenance (Annual):
    • Check and clean the burner.
    • Clean the combustion chamber heat exchanger.
    • Check CH Loop Water Quality.
    • For Combi Models: Flush DHW Loop (may require more frequent cleaning based on water quality and usage).
    • Inspect and test all safety devices.
    • Verify proper boiler operation after servicing.
    • Check glycol quality in closed-loop systems and replace if necessary.
  • Warnings for Maintenance:
    • DO NOT attempt to install, repair, or service the boiler unless qualified.
    • DO NOT disassemble the boiler.
    • DO NOT use tools to force the gas control knob.
    • DO NOT use the appliance if any part has been under water; call a qualified technician to inspect and replace damaged parts.
    • DO NOT wipe the boiler or control panel with a wet cloth to avoid electric shock.
    • Improper maintenance WILL VOID boiler warranty.
    • The manual emphasizes the importance of contacting a qualified service technician for any issues beyond basic troubleshooting, especially for recurring errors or leaks.
