This document is the Operator Manual for the Husqvarna PZ29D CE / 966616701 Zero Turn Rider, a machine designed primarily for mowing grass on lawns and even ground without obstacles. It can also be used for other tasks when equipped with special manufacturer-provided accessories.
Function Description:
The Husqvarna PZ29D CE is a ride-on mower built for superior efficiency in rapidly mowing large areas. It features a hydrostatic transmission regulated by steering controls, which allows for continuously variable speed and direction. The machine is fitted with a Kubota engine, and power is transmitted via belt-driven hydraulic pumps. Zero-turn capability is achieved by independently controlling the left and right steering levers, allowing for very tight turns. The mower deck can be engaged and disengaged via a blade switch, and its height is adjustable using pedals. An operator presence system ensures the engine shuts off if the operator leaves the seat without engaging the parking brake.

Usage Features:
The machine is designed for ease of operation with an accessible control panel and intuitive steering.
- Steering: Two motion control levers provide continuous speed and direction control. Moving both levers equally forward or backward results in straight movement. Turning is achieved by moving one lever closer to the neutral position, reducing the rotation of that wheel. Zero-turn capability allows for very tight turns by moving one lever backward and the other forward.
- Starting the Engine: Requires the blade switch to be depressed, parking brake engaged, and both steering controls in the locked (outer) neutral position. The throttle should be in the middle position. The ignition key is turned to RUN, waiting for the glow plug light to extinguish, then to START.
- Running: Release the parking brake and move steering controls to neutral. Release deck height control and lower the deck. Move throttle to full and engage the mower deck by pulling out the blade switch. Full throttle is recommended for mowing.
- Operating on Hills: Mow up and down slopes (maximum 10 degrees), not across. Maintain a slow ground speed and avoid sudden changes in speed or direction.
- Stopping the Engine: Move throttle to minimum, steering controls to neutral, and depress the blade switch. Raise the mower deck to transport position. Engage the parking brake, turn the ignition key to STOP, and remove the key.
- Moving Machine By Hand: Pump release valves on each hydraulic pump can be engaged to allow the machine to be pushed or pulled when not running.
- Control Module: Monitors battery voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and glow plugs, providing warning lights and an audible buzzer for unsafe conditions.
- Hour Meter: Displays total operating time and flashes "CHG OIL" at 50-hour intervals.
- Tracking Knob: Allows adjustment for straight tracking if the mower drifts.
Maintenance Features:
The manual provides a comprehensive maintenance schedule and instructions for various components.
- General Maintenance: Regular checks of nuts and bolts, safety devices, grass catcher components, discharge guard, and brake operation. Keep the machine free of debris and clean up oil/fuel spills.
- Engine and Radiator: Follow the engine manufacturer's maintenance instructions. Regular cleaning of the radiator debris screen and cooling fins.
- Battery: Maintenance-free, but periodic charging extends life. Instructions for removal, cleaning, and reinstallation are provided. Jump-starting procedures are also detailed.
