2. Remove the battery hold down and battery cover.

3. Disconnect the charging adapter from the charger port
connector. Fig. 5-12
4. Disconnect the charging adapter black wire from the
negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the red wire
from the positive battery terminal. Fig. 5-11
5. Connect the tractor harness four prong connector to the
charging port connector. Fig. 5-10
6. Check all battery connections. Tighten any loose
hardware. Torque battery terminal nuts to 120 in.-lbs. Do
not overtighten as this could damage the battery. Fig. 5-8
7. Check battery water level. Service as required.
8. Connect the positive (red) battery cable to the positive
battery terminal on the front battery (front left battery
terminal). Fig. 5-10
9. Make sure that the connecting hardware is placed on the
battery terminal as shown in Fig. 5-8. Torque nut to 120
in.-lbs. Do not overtighten as this could damage the
battery.
10. Re-install the battery cover and battery hold down.

11. Connect the negative (black) battery cable to the negative
battery terminal on the rear battery (rear right battery
terminal). Fig. 5-10
Make sure that the connecting hardware is placed on the
battery terminal as shown. Torque nut to 120 in.-lbs. Do
not overtighten as this could damage the battery. Fig. 5-8
WARNING: When the the negative (black) battery
cable is reconnected to the negative battery terminal a
spark will flash as energy rushes to the control capaci-
tors. Make sure all battery cell caps (covers) are
securely in place and the work area is well ventilated
before attempting to connect the cable. Keep fingers
back from the contact point as the spark is very hot.
12. Close seat pan and re-install seat pan hardware.
WARNING: Make sure seat pan is securely bolted
down prior to each use to prevent seat from moving/
tilting in the event of mower tipping or rollover.
