A value that was unavailable becomes available, and the
asterisk next to it disappears.
For example,
if
there is an asterisk next to interrupt level 4 and
you want interrupt level 4 to be available, use the arrow keys to
highlight 4 and then press Enter. The asterisk disappears, and
interrupt level 4 is available for Card Services to assign.
When you have reconfigured your adapter, verify that the adapter is
functioning correctly by running the tests using the instructions in
"Testing the Adapter" on page 16.
Point Enabling the Controller
It
is recommended that you use Card Services support 2.00 or 2.01.
Higher levels
of
Card Services might also work. Card Services
manages your PC resources for all your PCMCIA adapters.
If
you are not using Card and Socket Services, you may point enable
some PCMCIA controller hardware to enable your adapter.
If
you
point enable your controller hardware instead
of
using Card Services,
you must select system interrupts, VO port addresses, and memory
mapped addresses that the PC and other adapters are not using. You
also need to know which type
of
PCMCIA controller is used in your
PC and the address
of
the controller.
Note: The support for point enabling might not work on every
PC.

5250 Express Hardware Manual
Selecting the wrong configuration information can cause hardware
conflicts in your PC. The conflicts can cause the adapter tests or your
5250 emulation program to fail.
If a program fails, you must turn your PC off and on to clear all the
hardware conflicts. Rebooting your PC by pressing the Ctrl+Alt+Del
keys does not always clear hardware conflicts.
To point enable the adapter configuration:
1.
From the 5250 Adapter Configuration Menu, select the Select
Adapter Type option. The Select Adapter Type screen, similar to
the one shown in Figure 14 on page 29, appears.
