A problem was detected during online testing. The online tests check
the host response to transmissions from your adapter. Before the
online tests can run, the station addresses that you selected are tested
to determine whether they are available for use.
If
your station
addresses are not currently available, the following error messages can
appear:
•

Host Polls not received .
This error can be the result
of
improper cable connections or host
conditions. Check to make sure that your cable is properly
connected and that your host system is operational.
Station Address already in use .
Another terminal is already responding
to
the station addresses
that you selected. Online testing cannot continue until your
selected addresses are available for use. You must resolve the
conflict by changing your addresses or by changing the
station addresses in the conflicting terminal.
If
you are not sure
which station addresses you should be using, contact your system
administrator.
After determining that your station addresses are available, the tests
send a transmission from the adapter to check the host response.
If
the host does not respond
as
expected, an error is reported. This error
can be caused
by
the following problems:
• After the check to determine whether the addresses are available,
another terminal starts using your station addresses.
• Your host is unavailable or a host condition exists that causes the
host not to respond
as
expected. Wait a short time and restart
the test to check whether the host condition changes.
•

Multiple PCs are running the online tests at the same time and do
not have unique station addresses assigned.
Another PC that is not properly disconnected from the host
cabling system is running the offline test.
Another terminal that the adapter could not detect
is
using your
station addresses. Some cabling systems
do
not allow the adapter
to examine the response
of
other terminals. When using these
cabling systems, station addresses that are already in use appear
as available.
A cabling problem exists that causes errors in the reception or
transmission
of
data
by
the adapter.
