For models 980, 981, 982, 98B, 98E, and 98F, support is provided for High
Performance Flash Enclosures Gen2 (including the 3.8 TB and 7.6 TB Flash Tier 1
drives and Flash Tier 2 drives), zHyperLink, and Transparent cloud tiering.
Note: Models 980, 981, 982, 98B, 98E, and 98F are supported, but not covered in
this version documentation. For more information on these models, refer to
previous version documentation (GC27-8525-06).

Flash Tier 2 drive support
Support for High Performance Flash Enclosures Gen2
Placement of a High Performance Flash Enclosure Gen2 pair at the first available
(starting from the bottom) standard enclosure pair location within the system is
supported for models 980, 981, 982, 98B, 98E, and 98F.
The High Performance Flash Enclosure Gen2 pair provides two 2U storage
enclosures with associated flash RAID controllers and cabling. This combination of
components forms a high-performance, fully-redundant flash storage array. The
array components can be exchanged without interruption of service for concurrent
maintenance and firmware updates.
