a. Power off the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - trace and remove the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC
input/battery charger, or at the AC modules.
b. Disconnect all the I/O devices (tape, diskette, optical, and disk units) from the unit that you are
working on by sliding them partially out of the unit. See the Remove and replace procedures for
the model you are working on.
c. Remove and label all of the cards that are installed in the PCI card area.
d. Power on the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - reconnect the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC input/battery
charger, or at the AC modules.
Does
a power reference code occur?
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
v No: Go to step 10 (See page 162).
3. Perform the following:
a. Power off the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with an FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - trace and remove the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC
input/battery charger, or at the AC modules.
b. Remove all power supplies except first one in order (P00 or P01).
c. Power on the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with an FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - reconnect the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC input/battery
charger, or at the AC modules.
Does
a power reference code occur?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Go to step 5 (See page 161).
4. Perform the following:
a. Power off the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with an FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - trace and remove the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC
input/battery charger, or at the AC modules.
b. Reconnect the next power supply, in order, that you removed in 3 (See page 161).
c. Power on the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with an FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - reconnect the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC input/battery
charger, or at the AC modules.
Does
a power reference code occur?
v No: Repeat this step until all power supplies have been reconnected.
This ends the procedure.
v Yes: Exchange the power supply that you reconnected in this step.
This ends the procedure.
5. Perform the following:
a. Power off the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with an FC 5078 or FC 0578
attached - trace and remove the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC
input/battery charger, or at the AC modules.
b. Remove the the power supply left installed in step 3b (See page 161).
c. Reconnect the next power supply in order installed.
d. Power on the frame or system that you are working on. Frames with an FC 5078 or 0578
attached - reconnect the lower frame power supply ac jumper cables at the AC input/battery
charger, or at the AC modules.
Does a power reference code occur?
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
