System Directory List (SOLI: A list of hi\t1ly used phases (either only

is

input
unit:
A device specified
as
a source of an input stream.
system library:
The
collection
of
all
cataloged data sets at an installation.
system macro instruction: A macro instruction
that
provides access
to
operating system
facilities.
system
output
unit: An
output
device shared by
all
jobs.
system recorder file: The data file
that
is
used
to
record hardware reliability data.
system residence volume: The volume
on
which
the
nucleus
of
the
operating system
and
the
highest level index
of
the
catalog are located.
SYSCTlG:
An optional system data set
on
the primary system residence device can·
taining addresses relating installation data set names
to
specific volume numbers.
SYS1.LlNKLlB: A system data set containing
the
system program modules

not
either
permanently resident
in
main storage

the
task control blocks present

time.
task selection: The supervisor mechanism
for
determining which program should gain
control

CPU
processing.
telecommunicetions: Data transmission between a system and remotely located devices
via a unit
that
performs
format
conversion and controls
the
rate
of
transmission.
teleprocessing:
The
processing
of
data
that
is
received from or sent
to
remote locations
by
way
of
telecommunication lines.
terminal: 1. A point
in
a -system
or
communication network
at
which data can
either
enter
or
leave.

Any device capable of sending and receiving information over
a communication channel.
Terminating partition:
In
DOSIVS this
is
a partition owning a program which
is
in
the
process
of
being terminated either because
of
a program cancel condition
or
because
of
EOJ.
test-run
definition: Information requested
by
OL
TEP
at
the
various communications
intervals. This information consists
of
the
device
to
be tested,
the
test
or
test routines
to
be executed, and
the
options
to
be exercised.
