Use the PROBELTOLXY configuration in conjunction with a Harris routing switcher
to allow control of the switcher via automation system software written for the
Pro-Bel

routing equipment. In this application, the P12×1-SP will translate from
Pro-Bel protocol to the protocol required by the Harris routing switcher.
The PROBELTOLXY protocol is an RS-422 protocol (in this case, the controller is the
equipment designed to interface with the Prosan router). When the PROBELTOLXY
is powered-up, it requires approximately 150 seconds to update the internal status
table. It is important that the Prosan’s router mapping configuration must be
programmed into the PROBELTOLXY via the configuration application before
operating the PROBELTOLXY with the Prosan’s system.
Configuration
Control
The SW1 Pole 4 sets a “safety catch” bit for programming the PROBELTOLXY via
the configuration application. When bit 4 is ON, the PROBELTOLXY assumes the
Pro-Bel Router is a 16x1 matrix if the configuration application fails to program the
PROBELTOLXY. When bit 4 is OFF, PROBELTOLXY will not be operational until the
Pro-Bel router mapping configuration has been programmed into the
PROBELTOLXY.

Application Notes
The following files are required to edit and download the Pro-Bel’s matrix partition
table into the PROBELTOLXY:
NOTE: You can edit the SPTCFG.PAN and SPTCFG.INI files with the
Microsoft
®
Notepad application.
SPTCFG.PAN: A text formatted file containing the partition table of the Prosan
router; The SPTCFG.PAN file has notes explaining how to configure the matrix
partition table
SPTCFG.INI: A text formatted file containing comm port and baud rate settings
for the configuration application
SPTCFG.EXE: An executable file for downloading the matrix partition file
(SPTCFG.PAN) to the PROBELTOLXY

NOTE: The PROBELTOLXY will guarantee at least 2.25 seconds or faster in
response to an Interrogate message as recommended in the Pro-Bel
protocol documentation.
The PROBELTOLXY protocol supports the following Pro-Bel’s messages:
Interrogate: Requests for Tally information.
Connect: Requests a route to be made through the router.
