OPERATION
Power
On
Plug
your
subwoofer's
ACcord
into
a
wall
outlet.
Do
not
use
the
outlets
on
the
back
of
the
receiver.
Initially
set
the
Subwoofer
Level
Control
0
to
the
"Min"
position.
Turn
on
your
subwoofer
by
pressing
the
Power
Switch
0.
Turn
on
your
entire
audio
system
and
start
playing
a
CD
or
movie
soundtrack
at
a
moderate
level.
Auto
On/Standby
With
the
Power
Switch
0
in
the
ON
position,
the
Status
LED
Light
fj
will
rem
a
in
lit
in
red
or
green
to
indicate
the
On
/
Standby
mode
of
the
subwoofer.
RED=
STANDBY
(No
signal
detected,
amp
off)
GREEN
=
ON
(Signal
detected,
amp
on)
The
subwoofer
will
automatically
enter
the
Standby
mode
if
it
detects
no
signal
from
your
system
for
about
10
minutes.
When
it
detects
a
signal,
the
subwoofer
will
power
on
instantly.
During
periods
of
norm
al
use,
you
can
leave
the
Power
Switch
0
on.
You
may
turn
off
the
Power
Switch
0
for
extended
periods
of
nonoperation,
e.g.,
whe
n
you
are
away
on
vacation.
Adjust
Gain
Turn
your
Subwoofer
Level
Control
0
up
to
the
halfway
position.
If
no
sound
emanate
s
from
the
subwoofer
,
check
the
AC-power
cord
and
in
p
ut
cabl
es.
Ar
e
the
connectors
on
the
cables
making
proper
contact?
Is
the
AC
plug
connected
to
a
"live"
receptacle?
Has
the
Power
Switch
0
been
pressed
to
the
"On"
position?
Once
you
have
confirmed
that
the
subwoofer
is
active,
proceed
by
playing
a
CD,
record
or
cassette.
Use
a
selection
th
at
has
ample
bass.
Set
the
ov
e
rall
volume
control
of
the
preamp
li
fier
or
stereo
to
a
comfort
a
ble
level.
Adjust
the
Subwoofer
Level
Control
0
until
you
obtain
a
pleasing
blend
of
bass.
Bass
response
should
not
overpower
the
room
but
rather
be
adjusted
so
there
is
a
harmonious
blend
across
the
entire
musical
range.
Many
users
have
a
tendency
to
set
the
subwoofer
volume
too
loud,
adhering
to
the
belief
that
a
subwoofe
r
is
there
to
produce
lots
of
bass.
This
belief
is
not
entirely
true.
A
subwoofer
is
ther
e
to
enhance
ba
ss,
ex
t
ending
the
re
s
ponse
of
the
entire
system
so
listeners
can
feel
the
bas
s
as
well
as he
ar
it.
However,
the
system
must
maintain
an
overall
balance,
or
the
music
will
not
sound
na
tural.
An
experienced
listener
will
set
the
volume
of
the
subwoofer
so
its
impa
ct
on
bas
s
response
is
alw
a
ys
the
re
but
is
never
obtrusive
.
Phase
Control
The
Ph

determine

whether

subwoof

action
moves
in
and
out
with
the
main
speakers
(0

or
opposite
the
ma
in

ak
e

Proper
phase

djustment
depends
on
va
ri
a
bles
such
as
room
size,
s
ubwoofer
placement
and
li
stener
po
s
ition.
Adjust
the
ph
a
se
switch
to
maximize
bass
output
at
th
e
li
s
tening
position.

Adjustment
The
Crossover
Adjustment
Cont

ol
0
determines
the
hi
ghest
frequency
at
wh

ch
the
subwoofer
rep

oduces
sounds.
If
your
main
speakers
can
comfortably
reproduce
some
l
ow
-frequency
sound
s,
set
this
control
to
a
lower
frequency
setting,
be
t
ween
50Hz
and
1OOH
z.
Th
is
setting
will
concentrate
the
subwoofer
's
efforts
on
the
ultradeep
bass
sounds
requi
r
ed
by
today's
films
and
music.
If
y
ou
are
using
smaller
b
ookshelf
speakers
that
do
not
extend
to
the
lowe
r
bass
frequencies
,
set
the
Crossover
Adju
s
tment
Control
to
a
higher
setting,
between
120Hz
and
150Hz.
NOTE
:
This
control
will
ha
ve no
effect
if
the
LFE
/
No
rm
al
Selector
6
is
set
to
LFE.
If
you
have
a
Dolby
Dig
i
tal
or
DTS
processor
/
re
cei
ver,
it
will
set
the
lo
w
-pass
frequency
.

MAINTENANCE
AND
SERVICE
You
may
clean
the
enclosure

maintenance
