MD380 User Manual Preface
- 1 -
Preface
Thank you for purchasing the MD380 series AC drive developed by Inovance.
The MD380 series AC drive is a general-purpose high-performance current vector control AC
drive and is mainly used to control and regulate the speed of three-phase AC asynchronous
motor. It adopts advanced vector control technology and has low-speed high-torque output,
good dynamc feature and strong overload capacity. It increases the user programmable
function, background monitoring software and communication bus function, and supports
multi-kind PG cards. It is used to drive various automation production equipment involving
textile, paper-making, wiredrawing, machine tool, packing, food, fan and pump.
This manual describes the correct use of the MD380 series AC drive, including selection,
parameter setting, commissioning, maintenance & inspection. Before using the AC drive,
read this manual carefully to have a thorough understanding of the product. Keep the
manual well and forward it with the product to end users.

What does user-defined fault 2 mean for Inovance MD380S0.4GB?
    • E
      Emily ChristianSep 14, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drive reports a 'User-defined fault 2', it means the user-defined fault 2 signal is being input via DI or virtual I/O. To resolve this, reset the operation.

Why does Inovance MD380S0.4GB DC Drives have overcurrent during acceleration?
    • D
      Daniel WilliamsAug 25, 2025
When an Inovance DC drive experiences overcurrent during acceleration, it may be due to a grounded or short-circuited output circuit, failure to perform motor auto-tuning, an excessively short acceleration time, an inappropriate manual torque boost or V/F curve, low voltage, starting a rotating motor, a sudden load during acceleration, or an undersized AC drive. To address this, eliminate external faults, perform motor auto-tuning, increase the acceleration time, adjust the manual torque boost or V/F curve, correct the voltage, use rotational speed tracking restart or wait for the motor to stop before starting, remove the added load, or select an AC drive with a higher power class.

What to do if Inovance MD380S0.4GB show overcurrent at constant speed?
    • D
      Destiny JonesAug 26, 2025
If you observe overcurrent at constant speed in Inovance DC Drives, it could be caused by a grounded or short-circuited output circuit, failure to perform motor auto-tuning, low voltage, a sudden load during operation, or an AC drive model with insufficient power. To fix this, eliminate any external faults, perform motor auto-tuning, ensure the voltage is within the normal range, remove any added loads, or choose an AC drive with a higher power class.

Why does Inovance DC Drives have overvoltage during deceleration?
    • J
      Jessica HayesAug 26, 2025
If overvoltage occurs during deceleration in Inovance DC Drives, it could be due to high input voltage, an external force driving the motor, a deceleration time that is too short, or the absence of a braking unit and resistor. To solve this, adjust the voltage to the normal range, eliminate the external force or install a braking resistor, increase the deceleration time, or install the braking unit and braking resistor.

What does accumulative power-on time reached mean for Inovance MD380S0.4GB?
    • W
      William LeonardSep 15, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drive indicates that the 'Accumulative power-on time reached', it signifies that the preset power-on time has been reached. Clear the record by using the parameter initialization function.

What causes initial position fault in Inovance DC Drives?
    • C
      Carolyn RomeroSep 23, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drive shows an initial position fault, it means the motor parameters are not set based on the actual situation. Check that the motor parameters are set correctly and verify that the setting of rated current is not too small.

What does AC drive hardware fault mean in Inovance DC Drives?
    • J
      Jane RosalesSep 7, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drive displays an 'AC drive hardware fault', it indicates either an overvoltage or overcurrent condition. Address the issue based on the specific overvoltage or overcurrent troubleshooting steps.

What causes pulse-by-pulse current limit fault in Inovance MD380S0.4GB?
    • E
      Elizabeth MoranSep 8, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drive is experiencing a pulse-by-pulse current limit fault, it could be due to an excessively heavy load, a locked rotor on the motor, or an AC drive model with insufficient power. To fix this, reduce the load and check the motor and mechanical condition, or select an AC drive of higher power class.

What causes EEPROM read- write fault in Inovance MD380S0.4GB?
    • M
      Mark CooperSep 23, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drive displays an EEPROM read-write fault, it indicates that the EEPROM chip is damaged. Replace the main control board to resolve this.

What causes power input phase loss in Inovance MD380S0.4GB?
    • C
      Carolyn ChandlerAug 31, 2025
If your Inovance DC Drives show power input phase loss, it could be due to an abnormal three-phase power input, a faulty drive board, a faulty lightening board, or a faulty main control board. To address this, eliminate external faults or contact Inovance or their agent.
