What to do if my Intellihot iQ1001 shows Ignition Failure?
    • G
      george13Aug 15, 2025
If your Intellihot Water Heater experiences ignition failure, the water over-heat switch may have tripped, or there may be a faulty DSI, igniter wire, ignition connection, PCB, or a bad igniter. Also, low gas pressure could be the cause. You should check the pump and cross over solenoid, and inspect for electrical noise (DSI). Replace any faulty parts. Adjust gas pressure at the regulator, check/upsize the gas line, and check for gas line blockage.

What to do if my Intellihot iQ1001 Water Heater is showing a Flashing Icon?
    • R
      robert21Aug 18, 2025
If the icon on your Intellihot Water Heater is flashing, it indicates an error code and the unit is locked out. Refer to the indicated error code (E1, E2, etc.) for the appropriate resolution.

Why is my Intellihot iQ1001 Water Heater showing a Blocked Flue Fault?
    • C
      csingletonAug 21, 2025
A Blocked Flue Fault in your Intellihot Water Heater may be due to several reasons: the exhaust could be blocked by an object (like a bird), condensate might be backed up, or the wiring could be loose, causing the switch to open. Check the exhaust termination and connection at the water heater, and install screens. Also, verify the slope of the drain, and check for double loops, air locks, or debris in the loop. Finally, inspect the wiring.

What causes a Blower Speed Fault in my Intellihot Water Heater?
    • W
      wilsontonyAug 26, 2025
A Blower Speed Fault in your Intellihot Water Heater can be caused by a noisy blower or jammed impeller. Also, a disconnected signal wire or faulty wiring can be the reason. Inspect the blower and impeller, and clean and remove any obstructions. Check the PWN signal, and check for loose wires/pins, and repair.

What does it mean when the Cascade Icon is flashing on my Intellihot Water Heater?
    • S
      Samuel SingletonAug 28, 2025
A flashing Cascade Icon on your Intellihot Water Heater indicates a loss of communication between units. Check for broken or nicked communication cables or loose connectors. Make sure the communication cable is not bundled or tied to any high voltage lines. Ensure the dip switch (SW3) is ON in the first and last units and OFF in all other units. Also, ensure each unit numbering is unique under the dC mode.

What to do if my Intellihot iQ1001 displays 'Temperature Sensor Shorted'?
    • D
      David FordAug 31, 2025
If your Intellihot Water Heater displays a 'Temperature Sensor Shorted' error, it could be due to faulty sensor wiring, a faulty sensor (In - inlet water temperature sensor, Flue - Flue temperature sensor, Out - heat exchanger water outlet temperature sensor), or a faulty controller. Check for nicked or broken sensor wiring or connectors, and also check for corroded or wet connectors. Measure the resistance of the sensor at the connector (18 Kohm at 50°F, 10 Kohm at 77°F, 3 Kohm at 140°F). Finally, consider replacing the controller.

Why does my Intellihot iQ1001 show 'Flue Temperature Exceeded Set Limit'?
    • G
      Garrett HarrisonSep 4, 2025
Your Intellihot Water Heater may show 'Flue Temperature Exceeded Set Limit' due to an incorrect vent setup, high inlet temperature, faulty sensor wiring, a faulty sensor, or a faulty controller. If the vent pipe material is CPVC or Polypropylene, ensure that CPVC is selected in the FP (Flue Pipe) mode. Ensure the inlet temperature is lower than 150°F if the vent pipe material is PVC or lower than 190°F if the vent pipe material is CPVC or Polypropylene. Check for nicked or broken sensor wiring & connectors, and also check for corroded or wet connectors. Measure the resistance of the sensor at the connector (18 Kohm at 50°F, 10 Kohm at 77°F, 3 Kohm at 140°F). Replace the controller if necessary.

How to fix 'Temperature Sensor Open Circuit' error on Intellihot iQ1001?
    • C
      casey80Sep 7, 2025
To fix a 'Temperature Sensor Open Circuit' error on your Intellihot Water Heater, check the connectors and ensure they are securely connected. The issue could stem from unplugged connectors, faulty sensor wiring, or a faulty sensor (Out - heat exchanger water outet temperature sensor, FL - Flue temperature sensor, IN - inlet water temperature sensor), or a faulty controller. Check for nicked or broken sensor wiring or connectors, and also check for corroded or wet connectors. Measure the resistance of the sensor at the connector (18 Kohm at 50°F, 10 Kohm at 77°F, 3 Kohm at 140°F). Consider replacing the controller if needed.

What causes 'Heat Exchanger outlet temperature exceeded set limit' on Intellihot iQ1001?
    • B
      Benjamin WebsterSep 10, 2025
The 'Heat Exchanger outlet temperature exceeded set limit' error on your Intellihot Water Heater may be caused by excessive flow rate changes, faulty sensor wiring, a faulty sensor, or a faulty controller. Ensure the water flow rate does not change faster than 2 GPM every 5 seconds. Check for nicked or broken sensor wiring or connectors, and also check for corroded or wet connectors. Measure the resistance of the sensor at the connector (18 Kohm at 50°F, 10 Kohm at 77°F, 3 Kohm at 140°F). If necessary, replace the controller.
