POOL SET UP
IMPORTANTSITESELECTIONANDGROUNDPREPARATIONINFORMATION
•
Thepoollocationmustallowyoutosecurealldoors,windows,andsafetybarrierstopreventunauthorized,unintentionalorunsupervisedpoolentry.
• Install a safety barrier that will eliminate access to the pool for young children and pets.
•
Failuretosetupthepoolonat,level,compactgroundandinaccordwiththefollowinginstructionscouldresultinthepool’scollapseorthepossibility
thatapersonlounginginthepoolcouldbesweptout,resultinginseriousinjuryorpropertydamage.
Selectanoutdoorlocationforthepoolwiththefollowinginmind:
1.
The area where the pool is to be set up must be
absolutelyatandlevel.Donot
set up the pool on a slope or inclined surface.
2. Thegroundsurfacemustbecompactedandrmenoughtowithstandthepressureandweightofafullysetuppool.
Do Not set up
thepoolonmud,sand,softorloosesoilcondition,deck,platform,concrete,asphaltoranyotherhardsurfaces.
3.
Poolfencinglawsmayaffectthisproduct.Consultyourlocalcouncilandsetupthisproductaccordingly.
4.
CertaintypesofgrasssuchasSt.AugustineandBermuda,maygrowthroughtheliner.Grassgrowingthroughthelineritisnotamanufacturedefect.
BarriersforResidentialSwimmingPoolGuidelines:
Anoutdoorswimmingpool,includinganinground,aboveground,orongroundpool,hottub,orspa,shouldbeprovidedwith
abarrierwhichcomplieswiththefollowing:
1.
Thetopofthebarriershouldbeatleast48inchesabovegrademeasuredonthesideofthebarrierwhichfacesawayfromtheswimmingpool.The
maximumverticalclearancebetweengradeandthebottomofthebarriershouldbe4inchesmeasuredonthesideofthebarrierwhichfacesaway
fromtheswimmingpool.Wherethetopofthepoolstructureisabovegrade,suchasanabovegroundpool,thebarriermaybeatgroundlevel,such
asthepoolstructure,ormountedontopofthepoolstructure.Wherethebarrierismountedontopofthepoolstructure,themaximumvertical
clearance between the top of the pool structure and the bottom of the barrier should be 4 inches.
2.
Openings in the barrier should not allow passage of a 4-inch diameter sphere.
3.
Solidbarriers,whichdonothaveopenings,suchasamasonryorstonewall,shouldnotcontainindentationsorprotrusionsexceptfornormal
constructiontolerancesandtooledmasonryjoints.
4.
Wherethebarrieriscomposedofhorizontalandverticalmembersandthedistancebetweenthetopsofthehorizontalmembersislessthan
45inches,thehorizontalmembersshouldbelocatedontheswimmingpoolsideofthefence.Spacingbetweenverticalmembersshouldnot
exceed1-3/4inchesinwidth.Wheretherearedecorativecutouts,spacingwithinthecutoutsshouldnotexceed1-3/4inchesinwidth.
5.
Wherethebarrieriscomposedofhorizontalandverticalmembersandthedistancebetweenthetopsofthehorizontalmembersis45inchesor
more,spacingbetweenverticalmembersshouldnotexceed4inches.Wheretherearedecorativecutouts,spacingwithinthecutoutsshouldnot
exceed1-3/4inchesinwidth.
6.
Maximummeshsizeforchainlinkfencesshouldnotexceed1-1/4inchsquareunlessthefenceisprovidedwithslatsfastenedatthetoporthe
bottom which reduce the openings to no more than 1-3/4 inches.
7.
Wherethebarrieriscomposedofdiagonalmembers,suchasalatticefence,themaximumopeningformedbythediagonalmembersshouldbe
no more than 1-3/4 inches.
8.
AccessgatestothepoolshouldcomplywithSectionI,Paragraphs1through7,andshouldbeequippedtoaccommodatealockingdevice.
Pedestrianaccessgatesshouldopenoutward,awayfromthepool,andshouldbeself-closingandhaveselflatchingdevice.Gatesotherthan
pedestrianaccessgatesshouldhaveaself-latchingdevice.Wherethereleasemechanismoftheself-latchingdeviceislocatedlessthan
54inchesfromthebottomofthegate,(a)thereleasemechanismshouldbelocatedonthepoolsideofthegateatleast3inchesbelowthetop
ofthegateand(b)thegateandbarriershouldhavenoopeninggreaterthan1/2inchwithin18inchesofthereleasemechanism.
9.
Whereawallofadwellingservesaspartofthebarrier,oneofthefollowingshouldapply:
(a)
All doors with direct access to the pool through that wall should be equipped with an alarm which produces an audible warning when the door
anditsscreen,ifpresent,areopened.Thealarmshouldsoundcontinuouslyforaminimumof30secondswithin7secondsafterthedooris
opened.AlarmsshouldmeettherequirementsofUL2017General-PurposeSignalingDevicesandSystems,Section77.Thealarmshould
haveaminimumsoundpressureratingof85dBAat10feetandthesoundofthealarmshouldbedistinctivefromotherhouseholdsounds,
suchassmokealarms,telephones,anddoorbells.Thealarmshouldautomaticallyresetunderallconditions.Thealarmshouldbeequipped
withmanualmeans,suchastouchpadsorswitches,totemporarilydeactivatethealarmforasingleopeningofthedoorfromeitherdirection.
Suchdeactivationshouldlastfornomorethan15seconds.Thedeactivationtouchpadsorswitchesshouldbelocatedatleast54inches
abovethethresholdofthedoor.
(b)
ThepoolshouldbeequippedwithapowersafetycoverwhichcomplieswithASTMF1346-91listedbelow.
(c)
Othermeansofprotection,suchasself-closingdoorswithself-latchingdevices,areacceptablesolongasthedegreeofprotectionafforded
isnotlessthantheprotectionaffordedby(a)or(b)describedabove.
10.
Whereanabovegroundpoolstructureisusedasabarrierorwherethebarrierismountedontopofthepoolstructure,andthemeansofaccessisa
ladderorsteps,then(a)theladdertothepoolorstepsshouldbecapableofbeingsecured,lockedorremovedtopreventaccess,or(b)theladder
orstepsshouldbesurroundedbyabarrier.Whentheladderorstepsaresecured,locked,orremoved,anyopeningcreatedshouldnotallowthe
passageofa4-inchdiametersphere.Barriersshouldbelocatedsoastoprohibitpermanentstructures,equipmentorsimilarobjectsfrombeing
used to climb the barriers.
SETUP:
Dependingonthesizeoftheproduct,2ormoreadultsarerecommendedforsetup.Setuptimemayvaryfrom10to20minutes
excludingwaterlltime.
1.
Findaat,levellawnsurfacethatisfreeandclearofstones,branchesorothersharpobjectsthatmaypuncturethepoolliner
orcauseinjury.
2.
Movetheproduct(initspackage)totheselectedsitebeforeinating–donotinatetheproductanddragitsinceitmayresultin
leaks or damage.
3.
Slowlyunfoldtheproductandinspecttheproductforrips,tearsorpunctures.Donotuseiftheproductisdamaged.
4.
Laythepooloutasevenlyaspossibleandclosealldrainplugsand/orexhaustvalvecapsifany.
5.
Flipthetopringoutandcheckthatitisfullyoutsideofthewallliningandfacingup.Keepthetopringcenteredinthemiddleof
the pool.
