Execute X
Commands sent to the
Digital488
will result in no action until the unit is
instructed to execute these commands. This is done by sending an
X
, usually as the last
character of a command string. Commands sent without an
X
are stored in the internal
buffer until an
X
is received. Any number of
Execute
commands may be inserted into
the same command string. Certain commands, such as
Bit Set
require an
X
after each
command in a string if more than one of that command is within the same string.
Example:
CLEAR 718
reset the
Digital488
OUTPUT 718;"F2"
send "F2" to the
Digital488
command
input buffer
OUTPUT 718;"X"
instruct the
Digital488
to execute its
command input buffer
OUTPUT 718;"A1XA2X"
two Bit Set (A) commands are within the
same string, requiring an X after each
command.
