Overview

The iSpring RCC Series Reverse Osmosis Water Purification System with Deionized Filter (models RCC1D / RCC1DP) is a comprehensive water filtration system designed for residential use, providing pure, healthy, and great-tasting water. It employs a multi-stage filtration process, including Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Deionization (DI), to remove a wide range of contaminants and produce water with zero or near-zero Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

Function Description:

The system operates through a five-stage filtration process:

  1. Polypropylene (PP) Sediment Filter (1st Stage): This initial stage removes larger particulate matter such as sediments, dust, dirt, sand, silt, rust, and other particles from the incoming water.
  2. Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter (2nd Stage): Following the sediment filter, the GAC filter targets chlorine, unpleasant tastes, odors, cloudiness, and colors, significantly improving the aesthetic qualities of the water.
  3. Carbon Block (CTO) Filter (3rd Stage): This stage further enhances the taste and sense of the water by providing additional carbon filtration, ensuring more thorough removal of remaining chlorine and organic compounds.
  4. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane (4th Stage): This is the core of the purification system. The RO membrane, with its 0.0001 micron-sized pores, effectively removes up to 99% of contaminants. These include common impurities like lead, chlorine, fluoride, arsenic, hormones, asbestos, calcium, sodium, and iron. The RO process separates pure water from rejected wastewater.
  5. Deionize (DI) Filter (5th Stage): As the final stage, the DI filter polishes the water, producing filtered water with zero or near-zero TDS, making it ideal for applications requiring ultra-pure water.

The system incorporates a booster pump (in model RCC1DP) to enhance RO efficiency, especially in areas with lower incoming water pressure. It also features a Low-pressure Switch and High-pressure Switch to regulate pump operation and ensure optimal system performance. A Feed Water Solenoid Valve controls water flow to the booster pump, and a Flow Restrictor manages drain water to maintain system pressure.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Operating Temperature Range: 40°F - 100°F (4 - 37 °C). The system is not designed for hot water.
  • Maximum Inlet Water Pressure: 70 psi. A pressure regulator (part# APR70) is recommended for pressures exceeding 70 psi or in cases of water hammer.
  • Minimum Inlet Water Pressure:
    • Model#RCC1D: 45 psi
    • Model#RCC1DP: 30 psi (booster pump included)
    • An extra booster pump may be needed for lower pressures to improve RO efficiency.
  • Maximum TDS: 750 ppm.
  • RO Membrane Rejection Rate: Averages 90%+ TDS reduction.
  • Filter Lifespan (General Reference):
    • PP Sediment Filter (#FP15): Up to 1 year
    • GAC Carbon Filter (#FG15): Up to 1 year
    • CTO Carbon Block Filter (#FC15): Up to 1 year
    • RO Membrane (#MC150): Up to 3 years
    • Deionization Filter (#FD15): Up to 1 year
  • Tubing: 1/4" food-grade tubing.
  • Fittings: Quick-connect elbow fittings for easy installation.
  • Power Supply (for RCC1DP): 24-volt transformer for the booster pump.

Usage Features:

  • Versatile Water Inlet Options: The system offers three connection methods for source water:
    1. Cold Water Valve Under Sink (with Feed Water Adapter AFW43): Connects directly to the existing cold water supply line under the sink, compatible with 3/8" COMP and 1/2" NPT.
    2. Kitchen/Bathroom Faucet (with 156F34GH + 34GH14K Connectors): Connects to the faucet by replacing the aerator.
    3. Garden Hose Bibb (with 34GH14K Connector): Allows connection to an outdoor garden hose bibb.
  • Drain Saddle Installation: A drain saddle (ADS1K) is provided to connect the wastewater line to the drain pipe, ensuring proper disposal of rejected water. It should be installed before the P-trap to prevent microorganism growth.
  • Easy Filter Installation: Vertical pre-filters (Stages 1, 2, and 3) are designed for straightforward installation. The RO membrane is inserted into a horizontal housing.
  • Leak Stop Valve (ALS1): A reusable mechanical leakage protector that automatically shuts off the feed water upon detecting a leak, providing an important safety feature.
  • Optional Mounting: While not required for operation, the system can be mounted to a wall. Supports under the housing are recommended if mounting to bear water weight.
  • System Start-up Procedure: Includes flushing the pre-filters until water runs clear and then flushing the entire system for at least 15 minutes to remove air bubbles and loose carbon.
  • TDS Monitoring: Regular testing of TDS levels with a TDS meter is recommended to verify system performance and determine filter replacement times.
  • Flood Alarm (Optional): Compatible with an optional flood alarm (model WD01) for added peace of mind.
  • Compatibility with Storage Tanks: The RO system can be used with 4-200 gallon storage tanks to meet high-volume demands or for commercial/whole-house solutions.
  • Optional Add-ons:
    • Ice Maker Connection Kit (ICEK): For connecting to refrigerators for crystal-clear ice.
    • TDS Test Meter (TDS2 or TDS3): For checking water quality and filter replacement timing.
    • Tubing (T14B or T14W): 1/4" food-grade tubing for replacement or extension.

Maintenance Features:

  • Scheduled Filter Replacement: Filter cartridges should be replaced according to the recommended schedule (typically 1 year for PP, GAC, CTO, and DI filters, and up to 3 years for the RO membrane).
  • Visual Inspection: The transparent Stage 1 sediment filter housing (HC12) allows for visual inspection of the sediment filter to determine when replacement is needed.
  • O-ring Replacement: O-rings should be replaced every 3 years or sooner if leaks occur. Spare O-rings are included with the system.
  • Leak Stop Valve Pad Replacement: The pulp in the Leak Stop Valve (ALS1P3) should be replaced after any leak incidence and expansion.
  • System Shut-off for Extended Absence: If the system will not be used for over a week, it is recommended to shut off the water supply and drain the system. Filters should be replaced upon return if the system has been stagnant.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as no water output, leaks, high TDS, continuous drain, and cloudy water, along with possible causes and solutions.
  • Customer Support: iSpring offers customer service via phone and email for installation, troubleshooting, and general inquiries. Online video tutorials are also available for installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Warranty Registration: End-users must register their product at www.123filter.com to be eligible for the iSpring Standard Limited Warranty, which covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase.
