Vermont Systems Inc. 10/4/2016 3
Make note of the com port being used by this virtual driver. You will need it when updating the Printer
Device in RecTrac .
Note: If you do not see the TransAct entry or if you see a yellow warning for a USB device - do the
following:
Right click on the item that is creating the warning and select Update Driver.
Select No, not this time.
Select Next. Select to Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
Select the option Include this location…Click Browse.
Browse to the temp location where you unzipped the file from step 1 of this section. Click OK. Click
Next. The TransAct Virtual driver will install.
5 Install a generic text printer driver. During the driver installation be sure to associate the printer port
being used by this printer to the
highest numbered USB printer port. After the install is complete, go
into the properties of the printer, click the Ports tab and make sure the printer is assigned to a USB
port (e.g., USB001) and not a COM port.
RecTrac Ithaca 610 and Itherm 280 Configuration
1 In Printer/Device Maintenance, highlight the 610 or ITHERM device. If you do not have this device,
you will need to import the latest sadevice.dat file from the \vsi\rectrac\misc directory.
2 Update the 610/ITHERM device and assign the
appropriate COM port for Printer Dev (on the
second screen). This is the com port you made note of in step 4 of the previous section.
Note: It is recommended that you first clone this device if you will be installing multiple units.
3 If you need to manually create the printer device, use the following printer codes:
Factory=27,64
Print Init=27,31,114,118,38
Note: The Print Init field is mandatory if you are printing logos.
Note: 114 is the logo; 118 is the decimal equivalent of the ASCII character “v”, which is your stored
macro logo and is case sensitive.
10 pitch=27,33,8
12 pitch=27,33,8
17 pitch=27,33,8
Beg bold=27,64,29,33,18
End Bold=27,64
Drwr 1=27,112,48,64,64 (Optionally, you may use 27,120,1)
Drwr 2=28,112,48,64,64 (Optionally you may use 27,120,2)
Note: In order for the cash drawer to operate with the open codes used by VSI, the label on the
bottom of the printer must say “Ithaca Compatible.” If your drawer doesn’t pop using the above codes,
try changing the “48’ to a ’49.’ Apply the same change to your Peripherals device as well. Contact
Vermont Systems Support with questions or if you experience further problems.
