Overview

The Ivation 7-Pod Indoor Herb Garden Kit is designed to provide a convenient and efficient way to grow herbs, flowers, fruits, and vegetables indoors. This user-friendly device allows for year-round gardening, unaffected by external weather conditions, and promotes faster plant growth compared to conventional soil methods due to its specialized nutrient solutions.

Function Description:

The core function of the Ivation 7-Pod Indoor Herb Garden Kit is to create an optimal environment for plant growth using hydroponics. It features a water tank, planting baskets, sponges, and a lighting panel with adjustable height. The system circulates water and nutrient solutions to the plant roots, eliminating the need for soil. The integrated LED lighting system provides the necessary light spectrum for photosynthesis, with different modes to support various growth stages. An internal clock manages the light cycles, ensuring plants receive consistent illumination. The device is designed to be self-sufficient in terms of water circulation and light management, with indicators and alarms to prompt user intervention when necessary, such as for water refills.

Usage Features:

Setting up the garden grower is straightforward. After unboxing, the lighting panel can be extended using the rod, and accessories are removed from the water tank. The power adapter is then plugged into the grower and a power outlet, with a beep indicating readiness.

Preparing the nutrient solution involves mixing nutrient A and B powders with water. The manual provides clear instructions on the quantities of nutrient solution to add based on the volume of water, with bottle caps serving as convenient measuring cups. The prepared solution is then poured into the water tank, ideally slightly above the MAX indicator for initial planting.

Seeds (not included) are placed into sponges within the planting baskets. Soaking seeds in warm water for an hour beforehand is recommended for more effective sprouting. The baskets are then placed into the pods on the water tank cover, accommodating up to seven baskets. The lighting panel's height is adjustable, allowing it to be lowered close to the seeds for maximum light intensity during germination and raised as plants grow taller. Users should allow time for seeds to sprout, understanding that results may vary and some seeds may not grow.

The control panel offers three distinct illumination cycles:

  • POWER/10 H/NORMAL: This mode provides 14 hours of light followed by 10 hours off, maintaining a consistent cycle.
  • 12 H/ENJOY: In this mode, the light intensity is automatically reduced, and the cycle is set to 12 hours on and 12 hours off.
  • 8 H/GROW: This mode increases light intensity and sets the cycle to 16 hours on and 8 hours off, optimized for plant growth.

The internal clock initiates a Lights On/Lights Off cycle once the machine is connected to power. For optimal seed growth, it's recommended to start the lighting cycle between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM. If the initial setup time is not ideal, the clock can be reset by disconnecting the power cord for five seconds and then reconnecting it. If the lights are off during a desired "on" period, holding the POWER button for three seconds will turn them on, and they will remain on until the next scheduled cycle.

The device is suitable for growing a variety of plants, including herbs, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. However, plants that grow downwards (like carrots or potatoes) or exceed 13 inches in height (the maximum height of the lighting panel) cannot be cultivated. The water in the tank does not need to be replaced due to its circulation system, but the nutrient solution/water mixture should be replenished every two weeks when plants are small, or when the low water level alarm sounds.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and effectiveness of the Ivation 7-Pod Indoor Herb Garden Kit. Algae can occasionally develop in the water tank, which is natural and harmless, but regular cleaning with disinfectant is recommended to minimize its growth. It's important to maintain an efficient water level; too little water can cause roots to wither, while too much can promote algae growth on sponges. If algae forms around the water tank, it should be wiped down with a soft cloth.

The machine is equipped with a buzzer that will sound when the water level falls below a sufficient amount to sustain the plants, prompting the user to refill the water tank and nutrient solutions. The buzzer will automatically stop once the water level is restored.

If the lights do not come on or buttons do not make a sound, it indicates that the machine may not be properly plugged in or the power supply is inefficient. Unplugging and reconnecting the adapter, or checking the power supply, should resolve this.

When maintaining the grower, lifting the water tank cover to a certain height will temporarily turn off the lighting panel. To reactivate the lights, the cover should be placed back on, and the POWER button pressed.

Plants can grow up to 13 inches under the lighting panel. To ensure effective growth, users should tend to their plants by cutting off dried leaves and stems. Any dried leaves or dust around the grower should be wiped away occasionally to reduce the risk of insect infestation.

Mold may form around the basket if the grower is not properly maintained. If this occurs, the seed(s) should be removed from the sponge, the basket cleaned, and new seed(s) placed in a fresh sponge to restart the growing process.

After a full planting cycle, the machine, tank, and water tank cover should be cleaned. The planting baskets are reusable, but new sponges are recommended for each new planting.

To prevent insect breeding, especially if small flying insects are present indoors, it is recommended to keep the indoor area surrounding the garden grower clean. If insects are suspected, the garden grower should be cleaned as soon as possible, potentially using insecticidal or disinfection treatments, or by replacing the water.

The device's internal aerobic system periodically increases oxygen content in the water, which may produce an abnormal sound. This sound can also increase as the water level decreases, indicating a need to add more water to the tank. The water level detection system will continuously sound an alarm to remind the user to add water and nutrient solutions, ensuring proper plant growth.
