Overview

The Swami ACE is a golf GPS device designed to provide golfers with essential information on the course, including distances to the green, hazards, and shot distance tracking. It features a compact design with a clear display and intuitive button controls, making it easy to use during a round of golf. The device also comes with a magnetic holder/cover for convenient mounting on a golf cart and screen protection.

Function Description

The primary function of the Swami ACE is to assist golfers by providing accurate distance measurements to various points on the golf course. When in "Play Mode," the device displays the distance to the front, center, and back edges of the green for the current hole. This allows golfers to make informed club selections based on their desired landing area.

Beyond basic green distances, the Swami ACE also offers a "Hazards" screen. By pressing the [OK] button while in Play Mode, users can access detailed information about course hazards, such as bunkers and water features, along with their respective distances. This feature is crucial for strategic play, helping golfers avoid potential trouble spots.

Another key function is the "Shot Distance Mode." This mode allows golfers to measure the distance of their shots. After hitting a shot, the user can activate this mode and walk to their ball; the device will then display the distance traveled by the shot. This is useful for tracking performance and understanding club distances.

The device also includes a "Scorecard" function, which enables users to enter and track their scores directly on the Swami ACE. This feature, when enabled in the settings, provides a convenient way to keep track of a round without needing a separate scorecard.

Usage Features

The Swami ACE is designed for straightforward operation with a set of clearly defined buttons:

  • [Power] Button: This button is used to turn the device on or off. A long press is required to activate or deactivate the unit, preventing accidental power changes during play.
  • [OK] Button: This is a multi-functional button. A tap confirms selections, such as choosing a golf course or entering a score. A long press typically serves as a "back" function, allowing users to return to a previous screen, such as from the hazard screen or shot distance mode back to Play Mode.
  • [Up] Button: This button is primarily used for navigation and input. In menu screens, it allows users to scroll up through options. On the course, it can be used to change holes or adjust scores in the scorecard mode.
  • [Down] Button: Similar to the [Up] button, this button is used for scrolling down through options, changing holes, or adjusting scores.

Getting Started:

To begin using the Swami ACE, the user first selects the "Play" option from the Start Menu and presses [OK]. The device then searches for nearby golf courses. The [Up] and [Down] keys are used to select the desired course, followed by pressing [OK] to confirm.

Once a course is selected, the device defaults to "Play Mode," displaying the front, center, and back distances to the green.

  • To view hazards, the user presses the [OK] button. To return to Play Mode from the hazard screen, a long press of the [OK] button is required.
  • To access the scorecard, the user presses the [OK] button while on the hazard screen. Scores can be entered using the [Up] or [Down] buttons, and a long press of [OK] returns to Play Mode. Note that the scorecard function must be enabled in the device settings to be accessible.
  • To use Shot Distance Mode, the user presses [OK] while in Play Mode. After walking to their ball, the distance of the shot is displayed. A long press of [OK] returns to Play Mode. This feature also needs to be enabled in the device settings.

Magnetic Holder/Cover:

The Swami ACE comes with a versatile magnetic holder.

  • To Place on Cart: The holder slides onto the back of the device, allowing it to magnetically mount to a golf cart for easy viewing and access during a round.
  • To Store Device: The holder can also be slid onto the front of the device, acting as a protective cover for the screen when not in use, safeguarding it from scratches and impacts.

Maintenance Features

Charging:

The Swami ACE is charged via a micro USB connection.

  1. The micro USB end of the charging cord is inserted into the device, and the standard USB end is connected to a USB charging port or the included AC adapter.
  2. A full charge typically takes approximately 6 hours. The recommended charging rate is 5V, 1A. The device's battery level is indicated on the display.

Force Shut Down:

In the event of an error or malfunction, the Swami ACE includes a "force shut down" procedure to reset the device. This ensures that if the unit becomes unresponsive, it can still be powered off and restarted.

  • To perform a force reset, the user simultaneously presses the [Power] button, the [Up] button, and the [OK] button. This action will automatically power off the unit, after which it can be turned on again as usual.

The Swami ACE is designed to be a reliable and user-friendly companion for golfers, providing essential information and tracking capabilities to enhance their game. Regular charging and proper use of the force shut down feature ensure the device remains in optimal working condition.
