How to troubleshoot a pump that is not operating on my Jandy LX Water Heater?
    • A
      adam36Aug 15, 2025
If the pump on your Jandy Water Heater isn't working, start by checking the circuit breakers and the power source to ensure the heater is receiving power. Also verify the time clock settings are synchronized with the actual time. If power isn't the issue, the pump itself might be defective and require replacement. Another potential cause is incorrect wiring, so it's worth rechecking the wiring.

What to do if the igniter lights but main burners will not come on in my Jandy LX Water Heater?
    • T
      Travis MitchellAug 18, 2025
If the igniter lights but the main burners on your Jandy Water Heater won't come on, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the gas valve is in the “on” position. If it is, there might be air in the gas line; try cycling the ignition sequence until the air is purged. Other possible causes include a failed gas valve (which would require replacement), lack of power to the gas valve (check the controls), or low gas pressure (check both supply and manifold pressure).

Why is my Jandy LX Water Heater not producing enough heat?
    • C
      Carolyn ParkerAug 21, 2025
If your Jandy Water Heater isn't producing enough heat, several factors could be responsible. The gas supply might be inadequate, possibly due to a gas meter or gas line that's too small. Additionally, the manifold gas pressure might be low; it should be adjusted to 3.0" W.C. for natural gas or 9.0" WC for LP gas. The heater itself might be too small for your needs, in which case you would need to replace it with a higher input model. Finally, check the temperature rise setting, adjusting it as described in Section 7.6 of this manual.

What causes flashback on start-up in a Jandy LX?
    • A
      Anthony HartAug 26, 2025
If your Jandy Water Heater is experiencing flashback on start-up, it could be due to using the wrong type of gas. Ensure the gas supply matches what's indicated on the rating plate. Another potential cause is burner damage, which would require replacing the burner.

    Natasha JonesAug 28, 2025
Why is my Jandy LX pounding or knocking?
    • J
      jennifer12Aug 28, 2025
If your Jandy Water Heater is pounding or knocking, it's likely due to low water flow through the heater. Check the temperature rise according to Section 7.6 of this manual. If the temperature rise is too high, inspect the pipe size and pump capacity. Also, look for any obstructions or closed valves in the system.

What causes the flame to lift and go out in my Jandy Water Heater?
    • V
      Victoria McconnellAug 31, 2025
If the flame in your Jandy Water Heater lifts and goes out, resulting in low flame current, it's likely due to a lean fuel/air mixture. This can be caused by low supply pressure; correct the supply pressure to ensure a manifold pressure of 3.0" W.C. (Natural gas) or 9.0" WC (LP gas) when firing. Alternatively, there might be too much negative combustion chamber pressure (draft); increase draft openings by sliding the damper beneath the burners. A third possibility is low gas heat content; in this case, also increase draft openings by sliding the damper beneath the burners.

    Jamie SandersSep 3, 2025
Why is my Jandy LX Water Heater condensing?
    • W
      williamssabrinaSep 3, 2025
If you notice your Jandy Water Heater is condensing, it could be due to low water temperature. Flue product moisture will condense at the start-up until the heater water temperature reaches normal operating conditions. Another possible cause is that the heater is plumbed backwards; in this case, correct the plumbing.
  • P
    Patricia BrownSep 7, 2025
What does it mean if my Jandy LX Water Heater has a short "non-flying" flame?
    • C
      Cody BakerSep 7, 2025
If the flame on your Jandy Water Heater is short and "non-flying" (indicating high flame current), it's likely due to a rich fuel/air mixture. This can be caused by high manifold pressure; correct the manifold pressure to 3.0" WC (Natural gas) or 9.0" WC (LP gas). Too little negative combustion chamber pressure (draft) may also be the reason; locate and correct any combustion system sealing deficiencies. Finally, high gas heat content can be a factor; decrease draft openings by sliding the damper beneath the burners.

    Katherine MedinaSep 10, 2025
Why does my Jandy LX Water Heater have a lazy flame with a yellow tip?
    • A
      Abigail WalkerSep 12, 2025
If your Jandy Water Heater has a lazy flame with a yellow tip, it's likely due to using the wrong type of gas. Make sure the gas supply matches the gas indicated on the rating plate.
