1 Draw the thread from the spool. Hold the upper
thread at the spool with your finger.

2Slip the thread under the thread guide from the
right and down along the right channel.
Be sure that the thread passes between the
tension disks.

3 Then draw the thread around the bottom of the
thread guide plate.

4 Firmly draw the thread up along the left channel to
the take-up lever and down into its eye from the
right to the left.

5 Then down through the lower thread guide.

6Slide the thread behind the needle bar thread
guide on the left.

7 Thread the needle from front to back by hand or
use the built-in needle threader (see page 13).
Raise the presser foot.
Press the Up/Down needle
button to raise the thread
take-up lever to its highest
position.
