ASME tanks are permanently mounted to the RV and are commonly used on RV mo-
torhomes. The capacity of ASME tanks is expressed in gallons. ASME tanks are lled
while the tank is attached to the motorhome by a qualied propane facility. ASME tanks
are equipped with an automatic stop ll valve designed to reduce the potential of overlling.
ASME propane tanks are also equipped with a P.O.L. service valve that is for connection of
the supply hose with a left hand threaded brass P.O.L. tting from the tank service valve to
the two-stage regulator. Not for use on gas grills and other low pressure devices.
Propane is a true gas compressed into a liquid form. As the fuel is released from the con-
tainer, it changes to vapor which is then used for the operation of the appliances. Propane
will not run through the appliances in the liquid state.
Propane expands 1½ percent for every ten degrees of increase in temperature. It is impera-
tive to leave sucient space inside the container to allow for natural expansion of gas during
warmer weather.
The main shut o valve must be kept closed at all times unless
you are using the propane system or lling the propane cylinder.
When the cylinder is disconnected from the hose, install the valve
cover that is attached to the container.
Close the propane cylinder main shut o valve by hand tightening
only. Use of tools createto over tighten the valve (damaging the
interior seals on the cylinder valve seat). If this type of damage
occurs, the cylinder will not close properly.
This propane label should be kept permanently axed to your
RV.
Have the recreation vehicle checked for leaks at the connections on the propane system soon
after the purchase and the initial lling of each propane cylinder.
When you have a new cylinder lled for the rst time, make sure your propane supplier
purges your new cylinder of trapped air. Otherwise, an improper mixture of gas and air will
make it impossible to light your propane appliances.
No one should be inside the RV and only the qualied
propane service technician should be near the RV while
the propane tank is being lled. The new propane con-
tainer must be carefully purged for best performance
and must . This “shut o
for re-fueling” label should be kept permanently axed
to your RV.
The position of the propane container(s) and the hos-
es are critical to proper operation and propane ow.
Follow these instructions to make sure your propane
container(s) are connected properly.
Never allow your propane tank to be lled above the maximum safe level as indicated by the
xed liquid level gauge. Do not allow the visible gauge to be used for lling. Overlling the
propane container above the liquid capacity indicated on the container, could allow liquid
propane to enter the system that is designed for vapor only creating a hazardous condition.
