Rams (cont'd)
Dismantling
The numerical sequence shown in the illustration is a guide
to the dismantling procedure.
Note: It may be necessary to apply air or hydraulic pressure
to the head side of the ram in order to extract the piston rod
assembly from the cylinder.
! WARNING
If air or hydraulic pressure is used to force out the
piston assembly, ensure that the end cap is securely
fitted. Severe injury can be caused by a suddenly
released piston rod.

Remove and discard seals 6 to 12.
Assembly
Assembly is the reverse of dismantling. Fit new seals, lightly
lubricated. Tighten piston nut 4 and end cap 1 to the torques
specified below.
Note: Projections A and B from ram cylinder 3 are only fitted
to the slew rams. Mounting ring C is not fitted to the slew
rams.

(a) Bucket, boom, dipper rams.
