Why does the selected position cannot be maintained on my JLG Boom Lifts?
    • J
      Jason GallegosAug 2, 2025
The inability to maintain a selected position in your JLG Boom Lifts could stem from several issues. It might be due to an internal leak in the control or counterbalance valve, which requires disconnecting hydraulic lines, bypassing the valve, and checking for fluid flow from valve ports. If there's a steady flow, the valve needs replacement. Another cause could be a leak in the piston or shaft seal, necessitating an internal leakage test after removing the plug and housing's valve ports and operating the actuator through housing ports. Finally, air trapped in the actuator might be the culprit, requiring you to purge the air by following the bleeding procedures.

What to do if shaft will not fully rotate on JLG 600SJC?
    • H
      hunter97Aug 18, 2025
If the shaft on your JLG Boom Lifts won't fully rotate, check for gear binding due to twisted or chipped gear teeth; the actuator may need replacement if rebuilding isn't possible, and this damage could result from overload or shock. Also, ensure that port fittings aren't obstructing the piston by checking their thread length to confirm they don't reach inside the housing bore during the stroke.

Why is the operation erratic on my JLG 600SJC Boom Lifts?
    • E
      Eric HillAug 26, 2025
Erratic or unresponsive operation in your JLG Boom Lifts is often due to air in the actuator. To resolve this, purge the air from the actuator following the bleeding procedures.

How to fix slow shaft rotation in JLG Boom Lifts?
    • M
      markschmidtNov 9, 2025
A slow or non-existent shaft rotation in your JLG Boom Lifts can arise from several factors. First, verify the correct operating pressure, ensuring you don't exceed the OEM's specifications, as insufficient torque output could be the cause, or the load may be above the actuator's maximum capacity. Next, inspect ports for obstructions and hydraulic lines for restrictions and leaks if a low rate of fluid flow is suspected. If the control or counterbalance valve has an internal leak, disconnect hydraulic lines, bypass the valve, and check for fluid flow from the valve ports; replace the valve if a steady flow is observed. Furthermore, check for piston and/or shaft seal leaks by removing the plug and housing’s valve ports and conducting an internal leakage test. Corrosion build-up on the thrus...
