7.8.2.1 Filling the main tanks
The filling holes are positioned on the top of the inboard wing section
near the tip junction.
Filling is done through the top filling holes. The filling holes are closed by
screwing the filler caps into position using the universal rigging tool.
The main tanks are vented through the vent holes in the filler caps. Vent
caps fitted with specially designed one-way valves will reduce water
spillage through the filler caps when a wing is lowered.
NOTE: The filler caps used on the main wing must be fitted the
one-way valves.
CAUTION: The filling pipe diameter should preferably not exceed
12mm (0.5”). Water tanks may burst under high water
pressure if the filling pipe is left unguarded in the filling
hole without sufficient venting area around the pipe.
7.8.2.2 Draining the main tanks
Water can be dumped from the main tanks by moving the dump valve
control in the centre or full forward position.
Approximately 200 ml of water remains in the tank after dumping. This
water must be drained after flight. Draining can be done as follows:
Remove the main wing and subsequently remove the red drain
plug from the root. Lift the tip of wing panel with the leading edge
facing downwards and allow all the water to drain.
If a drain plug is installed, removed while the glider is rigged to
drain the remaining water.
