5.1. Starting-up of the Julia
• Check oil level of vacuum pump and gear box.
• Check that all protection and safety devices have been correctly
installed.
• Check that the vacuum and pressure lines are not obstructed.
• Before starting the pumps check that Julia intake is counter
clockwise. A wrong intake direction can seriously damage the vacuum
pump.
Warning: Julia intake is counter clockwise. A
wrong intake direction can seriously damage the
equipment.
• Check speed when loaded and functioning: absence of vibrations
or irregular noises.
5.2. Methods of use
• Adjust capacity by acting upon rotation: do not use the safety
valve to discharge excess capacity.
• Do not exceed the suggested working pressure and maximum
speed. Excessive power consumption may cause fast wear out of
components or breakdowns.
• Centrifugal pump:
- Suitable for fluids containing vegetable fibres. Avoid the suction
of solids in order to prevent the impeller from being damaged;
- Not self-priming. Avoid dry operation: possible damage the
mechanical seal. Food under the head or bring the liquid level to
the height of the suction mouth before starting.
• High pressure pump for clean water only. Follow the performance
limits mentioned in this manual in order to avoid damages to the
gearbox.
• Gear movement: verify that the gears are in correct position before
running the gearbox to avoid damages to gears. The gear positioning
must be done when the machine still and not working.
• Manual lever or pneumatic cylinder must reach the end of stroke.
Feed pneumatic circuit before starting up the Julia group.
• Install magnetic end of strokes on pneumatic cylinders in order to
verify the position more precisely.
5.3. Alternate and combined working
Julia 3000 - 5000
• Julia 3000 and 5000 are equipped with one lever only.
• Shifting the central gear, allows the alternate intake of vacuum pump or centrifugal pump.
• Special execution with wider gear: allows the combined operation of centrifugal and vacuum pumps, or the vacuum pump sole operation.
• Fig 5.1 illustrates the gears positions on Julia 3000-5000.
