FOCUS LOCKMAN,
Notes:
Manual focus .
For manual focus operation, proceed as iollows:
Il Press the ‘power -2ooti buttons ('T” and "W") along
with FOCUS LOCKMAN.
~ m To adjust the focus to a farther subject:
Press T. The Manual Focus indicalions (a)
appear, and 4 blinks.
1 To adjust the focus to a closer subject:
Press W. The Manual Focus indications (4 »&)
appear, and > blinks.
= When the: focus level cannot be adjusted any
tarther or closer, the indicator (i } or the indicator
(4) will Bink.
When finished with focus adjustment, release the
power zoom buttons.
~The Manual Focus indications change to the
FOCUS LOCK indication (pee), and the
adjusted focus is locked in
™ To release the Manual Focus mode {to engage the
‘Auto Foous mode}:
Press FOGUS LOCK/MAN, Al the moment when the
button is released, the Manual Focus Mode is
Canceled.
— FOCUS LOCK indication (»#-4) disappears.
Notes:
= When you use the Manual Focus mocie, be sure to
focus the fens in the maximum telephcto position. It
you focus in on a certain subject in the wide-angle
position, sharply-tocused images cannot be
obtained when zoomed up because the depth- of-
field is reduced at longer focal tengths.
™ When focusing manually, make neccessary
viewfinder adjustments (I P. 11), then focus in,
= Manual Focus operation is not available when
PROGRAM AE is set to "AUTO MODE LOCK".

ZOOMING
Pressing the power'zoom buttons (‘T* and *W") wilh
vary the focal length of the lens.
Procedure
™ Pressing T : Zoom in on the image (bring it nearer).
'® Pressing W: Zoom out
= Two zooming speeds are available. For slow-speed,
‘press lightly. For ragular-speed, press firmly.
3 Focusing may become unstable during the zooming-in operation. in this case, first zoom in in the Recording
Standby mode then, after using the manial focusing or the Focus Lock function to hold the focus fixed, zoom in
or out in the Record mode.
= When shooting low-contrast subjects in the Zoonvin mode, the Videomovie auiomatically zooms oul with the iow
contrast indicator blinking and focus. being performed.
= Zooming operation is not available while FOCUS LOCK/MAN. is pressed.

Turn the PROGRAM AE select dia! so that the desired indication
appears in the viewlinder.
— The chosen mode is activated approx. 1 second later.
Notes:
‘Only one Special etfect can be activated at a time.
™ Picture colour may be adversely affected in High-Speed Shutter, Sports or
Portrait rode when the subject Is ft by alternating discharge-type light
souroes such as fluorescent or meroury-vapout light,

1Ssec. Seif Timer | This mode ists you delay the start af recording afier the Recording
StarvStop button has been pressed. Ifthe VideoMovie has been
secured, the operator can enter the picture before actual recording
begins.
1» When performing Self-Timer shooting, the tally tamp wilt start blinking
approximately 10 seoonds before the actual recording begins, Then
when recording starts, the lamp lights normally t indicate recording
is in progress.
4 FOG
Electronvc Fog Filer | Makes the picture look misty white; similar 16 the effect when an
external fog filer is attached to the lens, Useful when you wart to
sofien en image slighty or give ila ancy" look.
This mode sets the shutter speed to 1/8000 sec. to Cleary capture
tast-maving action with less biur. Clarty is especially not
slow motion playback on a video deck Great for sports:
races, etc.
This mode can capture faster action than the Sports moe can.
Now:
‘The screen becomes slightly dark with the High-Speed Stuutter mode.
Use this mode in the daytime autdoors and in other wellighted
shuations,
High-Speed Shutter
‘The scene being shot will be recoded i sepie-tinled monochrome,
making it look like an old movie. By using i in combination with Cinema
mode (GF P. 19}, you Gan recreate the authentic look of a classic
Hollywood movie.
Disengages the auto gain control and auto focus, and automatically
Jocks the foous to infinity and white balance to 3 (outdoor) mode.
‘Dusk and twiigh! scenery, fireworks, eft. Sook more natural and
dramatic.
