This document describes the JVC KD-G441/KD-G351 CD Receiver, a car audio system designed to provide a comprehensive listening experience with various media and radio functionalities.
The JVC KD-G441/KD-G351 is a CD receiver that supports multiple audio sources, including CDs, USB devices, and FM/AM radio. It is equipped with a detachable control panel for security. The unit plays MP3 and WMA files from both CDs and USB devices, offering a versatile range of playable formats. For radio reception, it includes FM/AM tuning with RDS (Radio Data System) capabilities, allowing for enhanced information display and automatic station selection features. An auxiliary input jack is also available on the control panel for connecting external audio components. The device incorporates sound adjustment features, including a preset intelligent equalizer (iEQ) and manual bass, mid-range, and treble controls, to customize the audio output. It also features a remote control function (for KD-G441, with an optionally purchased remote controller) for convenient operation.
Basic Operations: To turn on the power, press the SRC or AUX button. The unit will automatically start playback if the selected source is ready. To turn off the power, press and hold the ATT button. The volume can be adjusted using the control dial. A momentary volume drop (ATT) can be activated by pressing the ATT button, and the sound can be restored by pressing it again. The display demonstration can be canceled through the PSM settings. The clock can be set to either 24-hour or 12-hour format and can be checked even when the power is off by pressing the DISP button.
Radio Operations: The unit supports FM1, FM2, FM3, and AM bands, selectable via the BAND button. Stations can be searched automatically by pressing the search buttons or tuned manually by holding the search buttons. Six stations can be preset for each band. The SSM (Strong-station Sequential Memory) function automatically searches for and stores local FM stations with the strongest signals.
FM RDS Operations: RDS provides additional information and features for FM radio. The unit can perform PTY (Programme Type) Search to find stations broadcasting specific program types. Users can store up to six favorite program types for quick access. TA (Traffic Announcement) Standby Reception allows the unit to temporarily switch to traffic announcements from any source other than AM, with a customizable volume level. PTY Standby Reception enables the unit to switch to a favorite PTY program from any source other than AM. Network-Tracking Reception automatically tunes to another FM RDS station of the same network with stronger signals if the current reception is poor. Programme Search helps tune to another frequency broadcasting the same program if the current signal is insufficient. The display can show station name (PS), frequency, program type (PTY), and clock time.
Disc/USB Device Operations: Discs are inserted into the loading slot, and playback begins automatically. To eject a disc, press the eject button. If a disc is not removed within 15 seconds, it will be re-inserted to prevent dust. The unit can play MP3/WMA tracks from USB devices connected to the USB input jack. Playback from a USB device starts from where it was last stopped, or from the beginning if a new device is connected. To detach a USB device, simply pull it out. Tracks can be skipped quickly using the navigation buttons. For MP3/WMA files, tracks within the same folder can be skipped. Specific tracks or folders can be located directly by entering their numbers using the number buttons. The unit supports direct folder access for MP3/WMA if folders are named with 2-digit numbers. Disc ejection can be prohibited to prevent accidental removal.
Playback Modes: The unit offers various playback modes:
Display Information: While playing an audio CD or CD Text, the display cycles through Disc title/performer and Track title. For MP3/WMA discs or USB devices, if "TAG DISPLAY" is ON, it shows Album name/performer and Track title. If "TAG DISPLAY" is OFF, it shows Folder name and File name. The display also shows elapsed playing time or clock time with the current track number.
Sound Adjustments: The unit features an intelligent equalizer (iEQ) with preset sound modes like CLASSIC, HIP HOP, JAZZ, ROCK, POPS, and USER. Users can adjust Bass, Mid-range, and Treble levels. Fader and Balance controls allow for speaker output adjustment. The LOUD (loudness) function boosts low and high frequencies for a well-balanced sound at low volumes. VOL ADJ (volume adjust) allows adjusting the volume level of each source relative to the FM volume. For KD-G441, a subwoofer output level (SUB.W) can be adjusted if "L/O MODE" is set to "SUB.W."
General Settings (PSM): Various settings can be configured in the PSM (Preferred Setting Mode):
Connectors: To maintain optimal performance, periodically wipe the unit's connectors with a cotton swab or cloth moistened with alcohol. This helps prevent deterioration from frequent detachment.
Moisture Condensation: If moisture condenses on the lens inside the unit (e.g., after using the car heater or in humid conditions), the unit may malfunction. In such cases, eject the disc and leave the unit on for a few hours until the moisture has evaporated.
