This section aims to outline the basic steps of appropriately installing a Captis device to
monitor sewer risers. These guidelines have been provided based on experience from water
authorities and deviating from these guidelines may result in a sub-optimal deployment.
3.1 Tools & Equipment
This subsection aims to outline the tools required but this is at the installer’s discretion:
Hammer Drill | Chisel bit, 8mm x 500mm masonry bit
Screwdriver
Hammer
Cable ties
Strain relieving thimble
3.2 Site
Ensure that you appropriately identify the site of install and notify or receive approval from
the appropriate government bodies or landholders to undertake these works.
Important - Conduct a visual inspection of the unit prior to installation: Ensure there are no
visible issues with the device prior to install. While Kallipr conducts extensive quality testing and
inspection on units before dispatch, we cannot account for potential issues that may arise during
storage or transit post-dispatch by Kallipr and transfer of device title. Installers must confirm the
device is visually sound before installation to minimise the risk of device failure post-deployment and
to avoid future truck rolls. If assistance is needed or issues are identified during the visual inspection,
please contact Kallipr Support.
Important - Connector protection in vermin-prone areas: In areas where vermin (including rats,
cockroaches, ants, birds etc) are present or pose a potential risk, the seal between the connectors
(LTE antenna, power cable, Amphenol connector, GPS antenna) and the device may be vulnerable.
It is recommended that installers apply appropriate protection to this seal to ensure it is protected.
If assistance is needed or you would like Kallipr to provide vermin-protection cables to help mitigate
this risk, please contact Kallipr Support.
Important Installation in pit or metal cabinet: If the Captis Pulse Lite is to be installed
underground or inside a metal cabinet, an external LTE antenna must be used. Ensure that your
Captis device supports external antenna connection. The antenna lead must be routed to an open
area where cell signal is less obstructed.
Important External Antenna: When using a non-Kallipr supplied antenna, please ensure that the
antenna is installed in guidance with the antenna provider's guideline and specifications
Important Mounting at heights: In accordance with IEC 62368-1:2023, this device is only
suitable for mounting at heights 2 m1.
