If your Kenmore Dryer won't turn on, ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the dryer’s rating plate. Also, check your house fuse and reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse. Do not increase fuse capacity. If a circuit overload is the problem, have it corrected by a qualified electrician.

Why is my Kenmore 796. 8147 Dryer not heating?

Dominique ScottAug 6, 2025
If your Kenmore dryer isn't heating, check if a house fuse is blown, the circuit breaker has tripped, or there's a power outage. Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse, without increasing fuse capacity. If it's a circuit overload, have an electrician correct it. For gas models, confirm both the house and dryer gas shutoff valves are fully open and that other gas appliances are working. Note that electric dryers can run without heat if there's a circuit problem.

How to reduce static in clothes after drying in my Kenmore 796. 8147?
D
David BlackAug 11, 2025
To reduce static in clothes after drying in your Kenmore Dryer, use a fabric softener or the STATIC SHIELD option (if available), following the manufacturer’s instructions. Overdrying can also cause static, so adjust settings and use a shorter drying time or AUTO DRY cycles with a LESS DRY setting. Also, synthetic fabrics are prone to static, so try using fabric softener, LESS DRY, and/or shorter TIMED DRY settings.

What to do if the CHECK VENT light is blinking on my Kenmore 796. 8147 Dryer?
K
Kevin PowellAug 18, 2025
If the CHECK VENT light is blinking on your Kenmore Dryer, it could be that the exhaust system is too long, has too many turns or restrictions, or there's a partial blockage in the ductwork due to lint buildup or a foreign object. Install a shorter or straighter duct run, referring to the Installation Instructions for details. Immediately check and clean the ductwork. The dryer can still be used, but drying times will be longer, and energy consumption will increase.

Why are there greasy or dirty spots on clothes after using my Kenmore Dryer?
L
Lauren AdamsAug 25, 2025
Greasy or dirty spots on clothes after drying in your Kenmore Dryer can occur if clean and dirty clothes are dried together, or if clothes weren't properly cleaned or rinsed beforehand. Only dry clean items in your dryer. Soil from dirty clothes can transfer to clean ones. Stains may also persist if they weren’t removed during washing. Ensure clothes are completely cleaned and rinsed according to the instructions for your washer and detergent. Pre-treating difficult soils before washing might be necessary.
