This document is the "Care and Instruction Manual" for the KenroyHome QUAD OUTDOOR FLOOR FOUNTAIN, model number 51057CON. It provides assembly instructions, troubleshooting tips, warnings, and frequently asked questions about the water feature.
Function Description:
The KenroyHome Quad Outdoor Floor Fountain is a freestanding water feature designed to enhance indoor or outdoor living spaces with peaceful water displays. It circulates water using an electric pump, creating a continuous flow. The fountain consists of a base, a reservoir, a column, and a pump, which work together to create the water flow. It is intended to be a decorative element that provides the soothing sound of flowing water.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Power Source: The pump requires connection to a grounded 110V outlet.
- Cord Length: The pump has a 10-foot power cord.
- Water Type: Distilled water is recommended to minimize mineral deposits, bacteria, and algae buildup.
- Outdoor/Indoor Use: Designed for outdoor use, but can be used indoors, though splashing may occur.
- Leveling: The fountain requires a firm, level surface for proper operation. Shims (E) are provided to assist with leveling on uneven ground.
- Pump Control: Depending on the pump type, it may feature a flow control valve with a slider or knob to adjust the water flow speed (maximum to minimum).
Usage Features:
- Placement: Can be placed in the center of a space or against a wall.
- Assembly: The manual outlines a simple, step-by-step assembly process:
- Place reservoir (B) onto base (A) and twist clockwise to secure.
- Feed pump power cord (D) through the plastic tube and out the notch in the bottom of base (A).
- Attach pump (D) to the rubber hose.
- Put column (C) into reservoir (B).
- Fill reservoir (B) with distilled water slightly above the minimum fill line.
- Plug pump (D) into the outlet.
- Use shims (E) to level the fountain if necessary.
- Water Level: It is crucial to keep the pump fully submerged in water at all times to prevent damage and unwanted noise. The manual advises checking the water level before each use.
- Water Refill Frequency: The water level will recede due to evaporation. The frequency of refilling depends on environmental factors like humidity, sun exposure, and how often the fountain is run.
- Lights: If the water feature includes lights, they will have a separate plug and switch, allowing them to be turned off independently of the water feature's operation.
Maintenance Features:
- Pump Cleaning:
- Unplug the pump from the electrical outlet.
- Use a small soft brush or run under a water stream to remove debris.
- For thorough cleaning, remove the front cover and impeller cover to access the impeller area. Gently pull the impeller/rotor assembly out of the pump housing, rinse it and the cavity with clean water.
- If a sponge filter is present, rinse it with clean water.
- Algae buildup can be flushed with a garden hose.
- Water Quality: Periodically change the water to prevent algae buildup. Distilled water is recommended to reduce mineral deposits, bacteria, and algae.
- Fountain Cleaning: To restore the fountain to its original state, empty all water, then use a mild soap (like dish detergent) and an acrylic brush to clean all parts.
- Winterization (for cold climates): If temperatures drop below 33°F, the fountain should be "winterized":
- Fully drain all water.
- Disconnect hoses, pumps, and lights.
- Thoroughly clean all components, especially the pump, to prevent residue buildup.
- Allow all parts to dry.
- Store parts and the water feature in a safe, weather-free environment.
- Regular Inspection: Inspect the water feature, floor, and adjacent wall weekly for moisture buildup and clean as necessary, especially in humid environments.
Troubleshooting:
- Pump fails to run: Check the circuit breaker, try a different outlet, check tubing for kinks/obstructions, clean out algae, remove front/impeller cover to check for broken/jammed rotor.
- Low flow rate/spewing/burping: Ensure the pump is completely submerged and the water level is above the minimum fill line.
- Abnormal noise (with water): Disconnect power, remove pump front/impeller cover, gently pull out impeller/rotor assembly, rinse with clean water. If breakage or damage is found, contact customer service. Ensure the pump is fully submerged and not touching any part of the water feature other than the bottom; try placing a sponge or soft material to pad the pump if vibration is an issue.
- Tube too long: The hose can be cut to the desired length with a sharp blade or scissors.
Warnings:
- Splashing may occur, so protect surrounding surfaces. Do not place the fountain on or near surfaces that can be damaged by water.
- Always disconnect the power supply before working with the water feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock.
- Keep small children and pets away from the water feature to prevent drowning.
