Do you have a question about the Kenwood FGP203WG and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Kenwood FGP20 is a spiralizer designed for domestic use, allowing users to transform firm fruits and vegetables into spiralized strands, ribbons, or noodles. It comes with various cutting cones to achieve different spiral shapes and sizes, offering a versatile tool for healthy and creative cooking.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Kenwood FGP20 is to spiralize a wide range of firm fruits and vegetables. It operates by inserting a chosen cutting cone into the cone holder on the power unit, securing the lid with the feed tube, and then placing the food item onto the pusher blade. As the pusher guides the food down the feed tube, the rotating cutting cone transforms it into continuous spirals, which are collected in the container below. This process allows for the creation of vegetable noodles, ribbons, and other decorative cuts, which can be used as alternatives to pasta, in salads, stir-fries, or as garnishes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Cutting Cones: The device includes multiple cutting cones for different spiral types. While the actual cones in the pack may vary, optional cones typically include:
    • Spaghetti (2 x 2mm)
    • Linguine (2 x 4mm)
    • Tagliatelle (2 x 9mm)
    • Flat blade (Pappardelle) – the width of the ribbon is determined by the width of the food.
  • Power Unit: The main body of the appliance houses the motor and an On/Off switch.
  • Pusher: Equipped with a support blade to securely hold food items during spiralizing. It features a groove that aligns with a rib in the feed tube for proper positioning.
  • Feed Tube: Designed to accommodate food items cut to fit its diameter.
  • Container: A collection container is placed under the cutting cone to catch the spiralized food.
  • Cord Storage: The power unit includes a compartment for cord storage, allowing for neat and compact storage.
  • Materials: The appliance conforms to EC Regulation 1935/2004 for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
  • Power Supply: Users should ensure their electricity supply matches the voltage indicated on the underside of the appliance.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly:
    1. Insert the cone holder into the power unit.
    2. Fit the desired cutting cone into the cone holder, ensuring it sits flush. The lid will not fit if the cone holder or cone is incorrectly placed.
    3. Fit the lid by aligning the arrow on the lid with the arrow on the body, then turn clockwise until the arrows align with the lock symbol.
    4. Place the collection container under the cutting cone.
    5. Prepare food by cutting it to fit the feed tube and attach it to the blade on the end of the pusher.
    6. Insert the pusher into the feed tube, ensuring its groove aligns with the rib inside the tube.
    7. Switch on the appliance and hold the pusher in position to guide the food down the feed tube, applying even pressure.
  • Food Preparation:
    • Use firm fruits and vegetables without stones, seeds, or hollow centers. Avoid soft, juicy, or overripe foods as they may fall apart.
    • Select vegetables that are as straight as possible for best results.
    • Cut the ends of food items flat to ensure secure attachment to the pusher blade. The diameter of the food should be more than 5 cm for secure attachment.
    • Many vitamins and nutrients are found in the skin; only remove it if inedible.
    • Spiralized food can be lightly steamed, blanched, boiled, or stir-fried.
  • Troubleshooting: A guide is provided for common issues such as the spiralizer not operating (check power, lid lock), lid not fitting (check cone/holder placement), poor results (food too soft/juicy, too narrow/small, not securely attached), half-moon pieces (food diameter too small, food rotating), and quick browning (use immediately, store in water, add lemon juice).

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Always switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
    • Handle the cone blades and pusher blade with extreme care as they are very sharp. Use a brush to clean the blades.
    • Some foods may discolour the plastic, which is normal and does not affect the plastic or food flavour. Rubbing with a cloth dipped in vegetable oil may help remove discolouration.
    • Store the cones in the container after use.
  • Power Unit Cleaning:
    • Wipe with a damp cloth and dry.
    • Do not immerse the power unit in water.
    • Push any excess cord into the cord storage compartment at the back of the power unit.
  • Removable Parts Cleaning:
    • Wash removable parts by hand and dry thoroughly.
    • Alternatively, these parts are dishwasher safe.
  • Service and Customer Care: In case of operational problems, users are advised to consult the troubleshooting guide or visit www.kenwoodworld.com. The product is covered by a warranty that complies with legal provisions in the country of purchase. For defects, contact an authorized KENWOOD Service Centre.
  • Disposal: The appliance must not be disposed of as urban waste at the end of its life. It should be taken to a specialized local authority waste collection center or a dealer providing such a service, in accordance with the European Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
