Overview

The Keurig® Vue™ Brewer is a single-serve coffee machine designed for household use, offering a customizable brewing experience for various beverages. It utilizes Keurig® Vue™ Cup portion packs, which are distinct from K-Cup® portion packs and not compatible with this brewer.

Function Description:

The Keurig® Vue™ Brewer allows users to brew a wide range of beverages, including coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and hot apple cider, with personalized settings for strength, size, and temperature. Its "Custom Brew Technology™" provides total control over the brewing process. The brewer features a touchscreen interface for easy navigation and selection of beverage categories and settings. It can also dispense hot water for cooking or other uses.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Brew Sizes:
    • Coffee: 4-18 oz.
    • Tea/Other: 6-12 oz.
    • Hot Cocoa: 6-10 oz.
    • Iced Café: 6-8 oz.
  • Temperature Range: 187°F - 197°F (preset to 192°F, adjustable in 1-degree increments).
  • Power Cord: Equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug. A short power supply cord is provided, and longer extension cords can be used with proper care.
  • Water Reservoir Capacity: Not explicitly stated in ounces, but instructions mention filling to a "max fill line" and using at least 48 ounces of vinegar for descaling.
  • Drip Tray Capacity: Can accumulate up to 13 oz. of overflow.

Usage Features:

  • Touchscreen Interface: The primary control for selecting beverage type (Coffee, Tea/Other, Hot Cocoa, Café, Brew Over Ice), strength (Strong, for coffee only), and size.
  • Beverage Categories:
    • Coffee & Tea: Standard coffee, tea, and hot cider brews.
    • Café: Requires two portion packs for froth and beverage. Froth is available only in a 4 oz. brew size.
    • Brew Over Ice: Designed for iced coffee, iced tea, and iced café drinks, requiring a 16 oz. plastic cup filled with ice.
  • Strength Selection: "Strong" setting for coffee provides a more robust brew by slowly pulsing water through the Vue™ Cup.
  • Adjustable Drip Tray Plate: Can be rotated to an elevated position for smaller mugs or removed entirely for larger travel mugs.
  • Hot Water Dispensing: The brewer can dispense hot water without a Vue™ Cup inserted by selecting "Coffee" (without "Strong") and pressing "BREW."
  • Auto On/Off Feature: Allows users to program the brewer to turn on and off at specific times, ensuring it's ready for the first cup. The clock must be set for this feature to work.
  • Energy Saver Mode: Turns the brewer off after a user-selected period of inactivity (in hours) to conserve energy.
  • Brew Temperature Adjustment: Users can adjust the brew temperature within a range of 187°F to 197°F, useful for high altitudes to prevent boiling.
  • Stopping Brew Process: The brewing process can be interrupted by pressing and releasing the Power Button. A cleansing brew is recommended afterward.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning External Parts: Recommended one to two times per month with a soapy, damp, non-abrasive cloth. The brewer should never be immersed in water.
  • Cleaning Drip Tray: The Drip Tray and Adjustable Drip Tray Plate should be periodically inspected, rinsed clean, and cleaned with a soapy, damp, non-abrasive cloth. They are not dishwasher safe.
  • Cleaning Brew Head: The Brew Head can be removed by lifting the handle, gripping and pressing buttons on both sides, and tilting it down. It should be cleaned with a soapy, damp, non-abrasive cloth and rinsed thoroughly. The Brew Head is not dishwasher safe.
  • Cleaning Water Reservoir & Lid: The Water Reservoir and Lid should be cleaned with a damp, soapy, non-abrasive cloth and rinsed thoroughly. They are not dishwasher safe, and the inside should not be dried with a cloth to avoid lint. Thorough rinsing is crucial to prevent contamination.
  • Cleansing Brew: Recommended after brewing certain Vue™ Cup varieties (hot cocoa, iced tea, café beverages) to clear traces of the previous beverage. This involves using an empty, lid-removed Vue™ Cup to dispense 8 oz. of hot water.
  • De-Scaling: Essential every three to six months to remove calcium deposits, which can hinder performance. The process involves using at least 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar, running multiple brew cycles with the vinegar, letting the brewer stand for at least 4 hours, and then performing rinse cycles with fresh water. Auto Off and Energy Saver modes must be disabled during descaling.
  • Recycling Vue™ Cup Portion Packs: Vue™ Cup portion packs are made of #5 plastics and can be recycled where accepted. This involves lifting the handle to remove the cup, allowing it to cool, separating the base by pulling a tab, discarding the lid and filter, and then recycling the base.

Safety Precautions:

  • Do not touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not lift the handle or remove the Brew Head during brewing due to extremely hot water.
  • Do not remove or puncture the lid of the Vue™ Cup prior to brewing.
  • Use caution when removing the hot Vue™ Cup after brewing.
  • Do not immerse cords, plugs, or the appliance in water.
  • Use only water in the Water Reservoir.
  • Do not remove the Water Reservoir during brewing.
  • Close supervision is necessary when children are near the appliance, as it dispenses very hot water.
  • The product contains chemicals, including lead, known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm (California Proposition 65 warning).
  • The bottom cover should not be removed to reduce the risk of fire or electric shock; repairs should only be done by authorized service personnel.

Warranty:

The Keurig® Vue™ Brewer comes with a limited one-year warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship under normal home use. Keurig will repair or replace the brewer at its option upon receipt of proof of purchase. The warranty applies only to brewers operated in the United States and Canada. It does not cover consequential or incidental damages, damages caused by unauthorized service, non-genuine Keurig parts, abuse, misuse, or acts of God. To obtain service, customers must call Keurig Customer Service to obtain an Authorization to Return number (ATR).
