Troubleshooting
A8 Solid State Drive
The A8 Solid State Drive provides 480 GB of removable storage. All user
information is stored on the SSD. The instrument operates without the SSD,
but is unable to store user data.
A9 External PCIe I/O Board
The A9 provides external PCIe I/O control from the external instrument.
A10 Midplane
The A10 Midplane provides interconnection for the A4 Mother Board, A11
Reference Module, A12 DAC Board, and A15 RF Deck Interface.
A11 Reference Module
The Reference Module consists of a 4.8 GHz tunable DRO (Dielectric
Resonance Oscillator), 100 MHz (VCO), 10 MHz Reference OCXO (Oven),
Reference Board, and Reference Mezzanine. The A11 Reference Module
provides/receives the following signals:
—6.0 GHz clock for the A12 DAC Board
— 10/100 MHz OUT (rear panel)
— SYNC OUT (10 MHz, 100 MHz, or 250 MHz, selectable (rear panel)
— 10 MHZ Reference IN
— SYNC IN (1 to 250 MHz in 1 MHz steps (rear panel))
A12 DAC Board
The DAC board provides frequencies from 10 MHz and up to 2.7 GHz. They are
then multiplied, filtered, amplified, and attenuated to the desired output
frequency and power level. The DAC board uses the 6.0 GHz clock delivered
from the reference module to generate these frequencies using direct digital
synthesis (DDS). In addition, the DAC Board coordinates the modulation of
these signals, as well as implements ALC control. A DAC modulator is used to
control the RF output power for mid band (for frequencies
> 3 GHz to 6 GHz)
and high band (for frequencies
> 6 GHz to 21.5 GHz). For frequencies 10 MHz
to 3 GHz, the RF output power is controlled directly from the ADC without
going through the modulator DAC.
