For the driver, there's a driver position memory button (if equipped), steering wheel, tilt and telescopic steering column control lever, headlight leveling control (if equipped), and instrument panel illumination control. Safety and assistance features include the LKA (Lane Keeping Assist) ON/OFF button, BCW (Blind-Spot Collision Warning) ON/OFF button (if equipped), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) ON/OFF button, bonnet release lever, interior fuse box, and seats. The document refers to specific chapters in the Owner's Manual for detailed information on each feature, indicated by bracketed numbers.

Instrument Panel Overview:

The instrument panel provides a central hub for vehicle information and controls. It features the instrument cluster, horn, driver's front air bag, turn signal/headlamp control lever, and wiper and washer control lever. The ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button (if equipped) and cruise control/smart cruise control buttons (if equipped) are also located here. Instrument Cluster / Engine Compartment:

The instrument cluster displays vital driving information, including the tachometer, speedometer, engine coolant temperature gauge, fuel gauge, warning and indicator lights, and an LCD information screen. The engine compartment houses critical components for vehicle operation and maintenance. These include the engine coolant reservoir, engine oil filler cap, brake/clutch fluid reservoir (if equipped), air cleaner, engine room fuse box, negative battery terminal, positive battery terminal, engine oil dipstick, radiator cap, and windscreen washer fluid reservoir. Regular checks of these components are essential for vehicle upkeep.

Climate Control System:

The vehicle offers both manual and automatic climate control systems.

  • Manual Climate Control System: Features include fan speed control, temperature control, air conditioning (if equipped), rear window defroster, air intake control, and mode selection.
  • Automatic Climate Control System: Provides more advanced control with driver's temperature control, AUTO (automatic control), front windscreen defroster, rear window defroster, air conditioning, air intake control, blower OFF, fan speed control, mode selection, passenger's temperature control, and SYNC function.

Door Locks / Tailgate / Fuel Filler Lid / Bonnet:

The guide details how to operate various access points of the vehicle.

  • Door Locks: Manual operation involves pressing a lever and pushing out a cover. There's also a central door lock switch and a child-protector rear door lock.
  • Tailgate: Instructions for opening and closing the tailgate are provided, along with an emergency tailgate safety release that requires pushing a mechanical key to the right.
  • Fuel Filler Lid: To open, press the 3 o'clock position edge of the lid when the car is unlocked. To close, turn the cap clockwise until it "clicks" and press the lid edge until it's securely locked.
  • Bonnet: To open, pull the release lever, then lift the bonnet slightly, push the secondary latch inside, and lift the bonnet. To close, ensure all filler caps are installed and combustible material is removed, then lower the bonnet from about 30 cm above the closed position and let it drop to lock.

Windows / Wipers and Washers:

  • Windows: The vehicle has power window switches for the driver's door, front passenger's door, and rear doors (left and right). Features include window opening and closing, automatic power window up/down (if equipped), and a power window lock button (if equipped). A note advises that power windows may not work properly in freezing conditions.
  • Wipers and Washers:
    • Front Wiper Speed Control: Settings include high wiper speed (2), low wiper speed (1), intermittent wipe (---), automatic control wipe (AUTO*), off (0), and single wipe (V).
    • Intermittent Wipe Time Adjustment: (B)

Towing / Spare Tyre, Jack And Tools / Tyre Mobility Kit:

  • Towing: For emergency towing without wheel dollies, set the ignition to ACC, place the transaxle shift lever in N (Neutral), and release the parking brake. Failure to place the transaxle in N can cause internal damage. It's recommended to use an authorised Kia dealer or tow truck service.
  • Removable Towing Hook: Instructions for installing and removing the towing hook, which is stored in the tool case.
  • Spare Tyre, Jack and Tools (if equipped): These are stored in the luggage compartment under the luggage box cover and include a jack handle, jack, and wheel lug nut wrench.
  • Tyre Mobility Kit (if equipped): Used for tyre punctures, it includes a compressor and sealant bottle. After sealing, the tyre can be driven cautiously up to 200 km (120 miles) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) to reach a dealer for replacement.

Engine Oil / Washer Fluid / Selective Catalytic Reduction:

  • Engine Oil: Checking the level involves pulling out the dipstick; the level should be between F and L. Refilling requires using the specified engine oil and avoiding spillage.
  • Washer Fluid: Instructions for checking the washer fluid level.
  • Urea Solution (if equipped): For 1.6 CRDi derivatives, a urea solution (DEF) is used for emission control, added to a separate tank next to the diesel fuel filler. The guide shows a urea solution level gauge and warns that if the "Refill Urea tank or vehicle will not start" message appears with the SCR warning lamp, the vehicle cannot be restarted once turned off. Full replenishment is always recommended. Regular checks and top-ups are crucial to prevent the vehicle from not starting.

Additional Info:

  • Idle Stop & Go (ISG): Automatically stops the engine to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. It may not work if the battery charge, ambient temperature, or engine temperature is too low, or if air conditioning/heater control settings interfere.
  • Parking Brake (Handbrake): To engage, apply the footbrake first, keep it depressed, then apply the parking brake. It's strongly recommended to leave the car in first or reverse gear (or 'P' for automatics) when leaving the car.
  • Bluetooth®: Many Kia cars have Bluetooth connectivity for safe mobile phone use. Compatibility information is available on the owner's section of the website.
  • Kia Service App: A free app for iPhone/iPad and Android that helps locate Kia dealers in Europe for showrooms or service, providing directions and contact information.
  • Warranty: The Kia 7-year/100,000-mile new car warranty is valid in all EU member states (plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Gibraltar), subject to local terms and conditions.
