SMOKE ALARM ACTIVATION
Smoke alarm pattern is three long beeps repeating
every 1.5 seconds.

openthatdoor!Instead,useyouralternateexit.Iftheinsideof
thedooriscool,placeyourshoulderagainstit,openitslightly
andbereadytoslamitshutifheatandsmokerushin.
•Stayclosetotheflooriftheairissmoky.Breatheshallowly
throughacloth,wetifpossible.
•Onceoutside,gotoyourselectedmeetingplaceandmakesure
everyoneisthere.
•Callthefiredepartmentfromyourneighbor’shome-notfrom
yours!
•Don’treturntoyourhomeuntilthefireofficialssaythatitisall
righttodoso.
•Therearesituationswhereasmokealarmmaynotbeeffective
toprotectagainstfireasstatedintheNFPAStandard72.For
instance:
 a)smokinginbed
b)leavingchildrenhomealone
c)cleaningwithflammableliquids,suchasgasoline
•Iftheescaperouterequiresyoutogothroughsmoke,crawllow
underthesmokewheretheairisclearer.
