Overview

This document provides a comprehensive user guide for the Kinderkraft ONETO3 i-Size car seat, designed for children with a body height between 76 cm and 150 cm (approximately up to 12 years of age). The manual emphasizes safety, proper installation, and maintenance to ensure the child's well-being.

Function Description:

The Kinderkraft ONETO3 i-Size is a forward-facing child restraint system approved under UN/ECE Regulation No. 129 (R129/03). It is designed to provide safety and comfort for children during car travel. The car seat adapts to the child's growth through different installation methods and harness configurations.

For children between 76 cm and 105 cm (up to 18 kg), the car seat must be installed using the ISOFIX system and the Top-Tether strap, with the child secured by the internal 5-point harness straps. This configuration ensures maximum stability and protection for smaller children.

For children between 100 cm and 150 cm, the internal harness straps should be stowed away, and the child secured with the vehicle's 3-point seat belts. The car seat can be installed in this height range either with ISOFIX low mountings in conjunction with the 3-point adult seat belts, or solely with the 3-point adult seat belts. This flexibility allows the car seat to grow with the child, offering continued safety.

The car seat features a baby insert (3) for very young children, providing improved comfort and extra support. This insert should be used until the child reaches 87 cm in height. The headrest (8) is adjustable to 12 positions, ensuring optimal placement of the vehicle seat belt's shoulder part and providing protection and comfort. The headrest should fit snugly around the child's head, with its lower part at the same height as the child's shoulders. The car seat also offers a backrest inclination adjustment mechanism with 5 possible positions, adjustable via a lever (12), for children between 76-105 cm.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Approval Standard: UN/ECE Regulation No. 129 (R129/03).
  • Child Height Range: 76 cm - 150 cm.
  • Installation Direction: Forward-facing only.
  • Installation Methods:
    • 76 cm - 105 cm (≤ 18 kg): ISOFIX + Top-Tether + internal 5-point harness.
    • 100 cm - 150 cm: ISOFIX + vehicle's 3-point safety harness OR vehicle's 3-point safety harness only.
  • Headrest Positions: 12 adjustable positions.
  • Backrest Recline Positions: 5 adjustable positions (for children 76-105 cm).
  • Baby Insert: To be used until the child reaches 87 cm.
  • ISOFIX Connector Arms (19): Extendable for installation.
  • Top-Tether Strap (17): For additional stability in the 76-105 cm range.
  • Storage Compartment (18): For storing the instruction manual.

Usage Features:

  • Safety Instructions: Emphasizes reading the manual thoroughly to prevent injuries from improper use. It warns against mounting the car seat on backward or sideways-facing car seats, or on seats with an active front airbag. If installed in the front seat, the front airbag must be deactivated. It is recommended to install the car seat on the back seats.
  • Harness Adjustment (4.2, 4.6): The 5-point safety harness can be loosened by pressing the adjustment button (6) and pulling the harness straps. To tighten, pull the shoulder straps to eliminate slack and then use the adjustment strap (7) until the harness lies flat and close to the child's body. The waist harness straps must be positioned as low as possible on the child's hips and must not be twisted.
  • Headrest Adjustment (4.3): The headrest (8) is adjusted by grasping the headrest adjustment strap (13) and pulling it upwards to unlock, then moving the headrest to the desired height. Releasing the strap locks the headrest in place. Proper headrest height ensures the shoulder belt passes correctly between the child's shoulder and neck.
  • Backrest Inclination Adjustment (4.4): The inclination angle is adjusted by pulling the seat tilt lever handle (12) and moving the seat/backrest to one of the 5 positions. A "click" sound confirms the seat is secured.
  • Securing the Child with Inner Harness (4.5): Loosen harness straps, undo buckle (4), place straps on sides, position child, adjust headrest, bring buckle latches together, and insert into buckle until a "click" is heard.
  • Installation for 76-105 cm (5.1):
    • ISOFIX Installation (5.1.1): Attach ISOFIX pads (16), extend ISOFIX connector arms (19) by pressing release button (11), insert latches into vehicle's ISOFIX points until a "click" is heard, and push the car seat firmly against the backrest. Green indicators on the buttons confirm correct attachment.
    • Top-Tether Mounting (5.1.2): Pull out Top-Tether strap (17), loosen it, hook it to the vehicle's anchorage point (under the headrest if possible), and tighten the strap until the green indicator in the buckle is visible.
  • Installation for 100-150 cm (5.2, 5.4):
    • Stowing the 5-point harness (6.1): Unfasten shoulder pads (9), slacken harness, raise headrest, undo buckle, place shoulder straps on sides, detach cover latches, stow inner harness straps behind cover, fasten buckle (4), pass through buckle pad (5) and cover, open compartment at bottom of car seat, stow buckle (4) in compartment, close compartment, place foam insert, and thread shoulder straps through guides in plastic element of backrest.
    • Using Vehicle's 3-point Seat Belts (5.4): Stow away the car seat harness, adjust headrest, guide shoulder belt through the green guide (2), place child in seat, guide vehicle seat belt through both waist safety harness guides (14), fasten seat belt until a "click" is heard, and tighten the belt. Ensure the waist belt is low on the child's hips and the shoulder belt passes between the child's shoulder and neck, without twisting.
  • Removing the Car Seat (5.3): Press ISOFIX release buttons (10) simultaneously on both arms of the ISOFIX latch (19). When markers turn red, pull the seat out of the ISOFIX guides. ISOFIX arms (19) can then be slid back into the car seat base.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cover Removal (6.2): Stow the harness and remove the insert. Set the headrest to the highest position, unfasten latches, and carefully remove the cover. Disassemble shoulder pads (9). Set the car seat to the most reclined position to reach cover latches on the backrest and shell. Remove the cover from the bottom, through waist guides, and then the headrest.
  • Cover Installation (6.3): Reverse the removal steps. Align the cover with attachment points, starting with the seat shell and then the headrest.
  • Cleaning (6.4):
    • Cover: Only the original cover should be used. It is removable and washable with a mild powder on a delicate fabrics program (30°C). Follow washing instructions on the label. Do not centrifuge, tumble dry, or iron.
    • Plastic Parts: Clean with soap and water. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents (solvents).
    • Harness: Clean in lukewarm soapy water. Do not remove metal clips from the straps.
  • General Care: Regularly check the technical condition of the car seat, focusing on fixing points, seams, and adjusting elements. Ensure all mechanical elements are fully operational. Never grease or oil parts. Do not use if parts are damaged or loose.
  • Protection: Protect the car seat from direct sunlight to prevent burns from heated parts. Place a blanket or towel under the car seat to prevent marks on delicate vehicle seats.
  • Replacement: Replace the car seat after it has been subjected to violent stresses during a traffic accident.
  • Modifications: Do not modify the car seat without approval from the relevant authority.
