Overview

The King Pigeon RTU5028E is an innovative network fault monitoring alarm system designed for remote surveillance of Ethernet device communication and power supply status. This device is particularly useful for detecting faults caused by power interruptions or network communication issues. Its primary function is to automatically or remotely restart switches, routers, or other network devices, thereby resolving common problems without requiring on-site maintenance engineers, saving both time and costs.

Function Description:

The RTU5028E acts as a comprehensive monitoring solution for up to seven network devices simultaneously. It continuously checks the status of these devices for network communication failures, power failures, and network cable issues. When a fault is detected, the system can trigger an alarm and initiate corrective actions. For power-related issues, the device monitors the input voltage, with a measurement range of 0-36V, eliminating the need for additional sensors and reducing overall costs.

One of its key features is the ability to automatically switch to a cellular network (GSM/GPRS/3G/4G) if the wired Ethernet connection fails. This ensures continuous monitoring and real-time status updates, even when the primary network is down. The device supports various communication protocols, including Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and MQTT, allowing it to connect seamlessly to cloud platforms for centralized data management and control.

The system is equipped with an internal MCU that monitors the power supply input voltage. It can send alarm messages to up to 10 authorized phone numbers, keeping relevant personnel informed of critical events. Users can configure the device to send periodic status reports via SMS at specified intervals, providing regular updates on its operational health.

Usage Features:

The RTU5028E offers flexible configuration options. It can be set up using dedicated configuration software, which connects via a LAN, providing a user-friendly interface. Alternatively, the device can be configured and queried using simple SMS commands, offering remote management capabilities. This dual approach ensures accessibility and ease of use for different operational scenarios.

For network fault detection, the device can ping up to two external network domain names or IP addresses. If both pings fail, it triggers an alarm, indicating a broader network issue. It also supports monitoring up to seven specific IP addresses for individual device health. The system can be configured to link an output relay to network failures, allowing for automatic restarts of connected devices. For instance, if a network device fails, the relay can open for a set duration (e.g., 2 seconds) to power cycle the device. If the network does not recover, it can repeat this action after a specified interval.

The device also supports remote reboot functionality, allowing users to restart the unit manually via SMS or set up periodic reboots at predefined intervals (e.g., every 3 hours). This can help in maintaining system stability and resolving minor glitches proactively.

Maintenance Features:

The RTU5028E is designed with ease of maintenance in mind. It includes a rechargeable backup battery that can power the device for up to 6 hours during power outages, ensuring continuous monitoring and alarm functionality. The modular structure design allows for easy upgrades of the network module, enabling transitions from 2G to 3G/4G or 3G to 4G as network technologies evolve.

The device supports both wall installation and DIN35mm industrial rail installation, providing versatile mounting options to suit different environments. It can store up to 100 historical data records, which can be remotely read via SMS or through the configuration software. This historical data is crucial for troubleshooting and analyzing past events. The system also allows for the export of these records to a CSV format file for further analysis.

In terms of security, the device uses a password-protected access system, with a default password that can be modified. It also provides clear SMS confirmations for commands, ensuring that users know their instructions have been received and processed. The system can automatically adjust its time based on the GSM operator's network, and users can set their specific time zone.

The RTU5028E is suitable for a wide range of applications, including classrooms, public places, hospitals, stations, food warehouses, offices, factories, libraries, and laboratories—anywhere that requires reliable power and network monitoring. Its ability to provide timely alerts and automated recovery actions significantly reduces the need for manual intervention, making it a valuable tool for maintaining operational continuity and minimizing downtime.
