Overview

The Kingrinder Manual Hand Coffee Grinder, Model K6, is a portable and versatile device designed for grinding coffee beans. It is engineered to provide a consistent grind for various brewing methods, from very fine Turkish coffee to coarse French Press. The grinder is operated manually but also offers the option for electric use with an appropriate screwdriver, enhancing its flexibility for different user preferences.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Kingrinder K6 is to grind whole coffee beans into a desired consistency. It features an adjustable grind setting mechanism that allows users to select from a wide range of fineness levels. The grinder is equipped with a burr set that ensures uniform particle size, which is crucial for optimal coffee extraction and flavor. The manual operation provides a tactile experience, allowing users to feel the resistance of the beans as they are ground, while the electric option offers convenience and speed for those who prefer it. The device is designed to be compact and easy to transport, making it suitable for home use, travel, or outdoor activities.

Usage Features:

Operating the Kingrinder K6 involves a straightforward process. To begin, the user gently rotates the adjustment nut clockwise until it reaches the "0" position. This "0" position is the correct zero point, and it's important not to overtighten it beyond this point to prevent damage. Once the zero position is set, the user then rotates the adjustment nut counterclockwise to select the desired grind setting, measured in "clicks." The manual provides a helpful table with recommended click settings for various brewing methods, such as Turkish coffee (20 clicks), Espresso (40 clicks), Moka pot/AeroPress (60-70 clicks), Pour-Over (100 clicks), and French Press (120 clicks). One full round of adjustment is equivalent to 60 clicks. After setting the grind, 30-35 grams of coffee beans are placed into the grinder. Finally, the handle is attached, and grinding can commence.

For those who prefer an electric grinding experience, the Kingrinder K6 can be used with an electric screwdriver. This requires an electric screwdriver with a torque of 15-25 Nm and a 6.35mm (1/4 inch) Hex Shank. To use it electrically, the handle is removed, and the black O-ring is installed onto the PC lid. The bit holder of the electric screwdriver is then fully inserted into the center shaft of the grinder. It is crucial to grasp the grinder firmly and apply power gradually, slowing down the grinding speed to prevent any potential damage to the central shaft. This feature offers a convenient alternative for faster grinding, especially when preparing larger quantities of coffee.

The design of the grinder includes a handle for manual operation and a PC lid with a black O-ring to secure the beans during grinding. The package also includes a white O-ring and a circlip, which are components for assembly and maintenance. A brush is provided for cleaning, emphasizing the importance of dry cleaning for the device.

Maintenance Features:

Maintaining the Kingrinder K6 is essential for its longevity and performance. The manual provides clear instructions for both disassembly and assembly, facilitating thorough cleaning.

To disassemble the grinder for cleaning:

  1. Rotate the adjustment nut anti-clockwise for three or four rotations.
  2. Hold the burr set while removing the circlip.
  3. Take out the components in order: the burr set (attached to the central shaft), the bearing cover, and the spring from the burr set. Then, remove the top bearing cover and the top bearing from above. It's important not to rotate the adjustment nut during this step, as it is unnecessary.

To assemble the grinder after cleaning:

  1. Place the components back in order. Start by inserting the spring and the bearing cover into the burr set.
  2. Install the burr set back into the grinder.
  3. While holding the burr set, place the top bearing and the top bearing cover. Note that the top bearing cover has two shapes: a flat design and a curved design. Ensure that the curved design of the top bearing cover faces upward.
  4. Slide the circlip onto the top bearing cover while still holding the burr set.

The manual also provides specific instructions for assembling the PC lid and handle:

  1. Take out the black O-ring from the groove on the PC lid.
  2. Insert the provided white O-ring.
  3. Ensure that the white O-ring is correctly installed into the groove on the handle for proper fixation.

Several precautions are highlighted to ensure the proper care and longevity of the grinder:

  • The entire grinder should not be washed with water. Cleaning should be done using the provided brush.
  • Avoid rotating the handle when the grind setting is at "0" or below "15" clicks, as this could damage the burr set.
  • For precision reasons, do not dismantle the exterior burr. Forcefully disassembling the grinder with tools should also be avoided.
  • Only grind coffee beans. Unroasted coffee beans should not be ground.
  • Avoid spraying water directly onto any part of the grinder. If RDT (Ross Droplet Technique) is desired, spray water onto another object first.
  • Avoid second grinding, as fine coffee powder may block the parts.
  • The grinder should be stored in a dry environment.

These detailed instructions for operation, electric use, disassembly, assembly, and precautions ensure that users can effectively utilize and maintain their Kingrinder K6 for a consistent and enjoyable coffee grinding experience.
