Ⅵ PeriodicInspectionandMaintenance
1. PeriodicInspection
1.1 Carryoutaperiodicinspectiononthestrainersinuseatleastonceayear.
1.2 Examinestrainerstoensuretrouble-freesafeoperation.
1.3 SeeChapterIV,Section3“DailyInspection”,forinspectionitemsandinspectionmethods.

A periodic inspection is recommended on strainers which are not subject to a daily
inspection.(Aperiodicinspectionshouldbecarriedoutonallstrainers.)
2. MaintenanceandInspection
Incasepipelinesorfacilitieswherestrainersareinstalledareshutdownforapipeline
inspection,carry outaninspection onstrainers, as needed,includingpressuretest as
wellasvisualinspectiontocheckifthescreeniscloggedorwhetherforeignparticlesgo
throughtothedownstream.Ifanyfailureisfound,disassemblethestrainersforfurther
inspection.Thestrainersmustpassrequiredinspectionsbeforebeingsentbacktothe
pipelinesorfacilitiesforreinstallation.
2.1 Carefordisassemblyandreassemblyafterinstallation
(1) Discharge the fluid from the pipes and reduce the line pressure to the
atmosphericlevel,whenremovingthecap.
(2) Operatorsmusttakeprotectivemeasuresagainstthe
directexposuretothe
fluid
andpreventcatchingfire.
(3) Keep off the valve lifting area to prevent personal injuries caused by
unsecuredvalves.
(1) Wearprotectiveitemssuchasgoggles,glovesandworkingfootwear.
(2) Keepasecurefootingforvalvedismantlingormountingstrainers.
