the engine. The pump is secured by a square cover
and four screws. The component parts contained
in the pump assembly are shown in Figure 5-5.
LUBRICATION SYSTEM SERVICE
The oil pump cover and rotors, and pressure relief
valve ball and spring can be serviced without
splitting the crankcase. To service these parts, the
closure plate must be removed.
To service
the rest of the pump components, the
crankcase must be split. See Sections 7 and 8 for
disassembly and assembly of crankcase and oil
pump.
