Why Kohler KT730 Engine Cranks But Will Not Start?
- JJeffrey JarvisAug 25, 2025
Your Kohler engine might crank but fail to start due to several reasons: a backwards battery connection, a blown fuse, a malfunctioning carburetor solenoid, the choke not closing, a clogged fuel line or filter, a failed diode in the wiring harness, a DSAI or DSAM malfunction, an empty fuel tank, a faulty electronic control unit, faulty ignition coils or spark plugs, a fuel pump malfunction (clogged or leaking vacuum hose), a closed fuel shut-off valve, faulty or improperly gapped ignition modules, insufficient voltage to the electronic control unit, an engaged or faulty interlock switch, the key or kill switch being in the OFF position, a low oil level, poor fuel quality (dirt, water, stale, or improper mixture), a SMART-SPARK™ malfunction, or disconnected spark plug leads.
