What to do if LaCie USB 2.0 Storage drive is not recognized?
    • S
      Steven ReynoldsJul 26, 2025
If your LaCie Storage drive isn't recognized, there should be an icon for the drive on the desktop. If it's not there, check both ends of the USB cable to ensure they are fully plugged into their ports. Try disconnecting the cables, waiting 10 seconds, and then reconnecting them. If it still doesn't appear, restart your computer. If the LED on the front of the drive is off, it might not be getting enough power. Try connecting the USB power sharing cable.

Why is my LaCie Storage drive not running faster with USB 2.0?
    • T
      Tina YangAug 1, 2025
If your LaCie Storage drive isn't running faster when connected via Hi-Speed USB 2.0, it might be connected to a USB 1.1 port or hub. For optimal performance, connect it directly to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port or hub. Otherwise, it will operate at slower USB 1.1 transfer rates. Also, verify that the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 drivers for both your host bus adapter and device have been installed correctly. If unsure, uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

What to do if I get error messages using LaCie Storage on Mac OS 10.x?
    • S
      Stephanie TaylorAug 12, 2025
When copying files or folders from Mac OS 10.x to a FAT 32 volume, certain characters in the file names can cause errors. These characters include ? < > / \ :. Check your files and folders to ensure that these types of characters are not being used. Alternatively, you may ignore the message if it appears when the computer is “revived” from sleep mode. LaCie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your computer to sleep mode, and when the computer is “revived” from sleep, it does not give the drive enough time to spin up from its sleep mode, but the drive will remount to the desktop.
