TheSetupUtilityprogramisusedtoviewandchangetheconﬁgurationsettingsofyourcomputer,regardless

ofwhichoperatingsystemyouareusing.However,theoperatingsystemsettingsmightoverrideanysimilar

settingsintheSetupUtilityprogram.

StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram

TostarttheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:

1.Ensurethatyourcomputeristurnedoff.

2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF1keywhenturningonthecomputer.Whenyouhearmultiple

beepsorseealogoscreen,releasetheF1key.

Note:IfaPower-OnPasswordoranAdministratorPasswordhasbeenset,theSetupUtilityprogram

menuwillnotbedisplayeduntilyoutypethecorrectpassword.Formoreinformation,see“Using

passwords”onpage57

WhenthePOSTdetectsthattheharddiskdrivehasbeenremovedfromyourcomputerorthememory

modulesizehasdecreased,anerrormessagewillbedisplayedwhenyoustartthecomputerandyouwillbe

promptedtodooneofthefollowing:

•PressF1toentertheSetupUtilityprogram.

Note:AfteryouentertheSetupUtilityprogram,pressF10tosavechangesandexittheSetupUtility

program.PressEnterwhenpromptedtoconﬁrmtheexit.Theerrormessagewillnotbedisplayedagain.

•PressF2tobypasstheerrormessageandlogintotheoperatingsystem.

Note:YouhavetoenabletheconﬁgurationchangedetectionfeatureforthePOSTtodetecttheremovalof

theharddiskdrive.Toenabletheconﬁgurationchangedetectionfeature,dothefollowing:

1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.

2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectSecurity➙ConﬁgurationChangeDetection,

andpressEnter.

3.SelectEnabledandpressEnter.

4.PressF10tosavechangesandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.PressEnterwhenpromptedtoconﬁrm

theexit.

Viewingandchangingsettings

TheSetupUtilityprogrammenulistsvariousitemsaboutthesystemconﬁguration.Tovieworchange

settings,starttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage57.Then,follow

theinstructionsonthescreen.

YoucanuseeitherthekeyboardorthemousetonavigatethroughBIOSmenuchoices.Thekeysusedto

performvarioustasksaredisplayedatthebottomofeachscreen.

Usingpasswords

ByusingtheSetupUtilityprogram,youcansetpasswordstopreventunauthorizedaccesstoyourcomputer

anddata.Thefollowingtypesofpasswordsareavailable:
