•Beforetheinstallation,ensurethattheserverhasatleast2GBofsystemmemoryand160GBoffree
spaceontheharddiskdriveforinstallingtheoperatingsystem.
•Followtheinstructionsonthescreeninadditiontotheinstructionsinthistopic.
ToinstallaMicrosoftWindowsSmallBusinessServer2011Essentialsoperatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetastherststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
2.PressanykeyonthekeyboardassoonasthemessagePressanykeytobootfromCDorDVD...is
displayed.Then,theWindowssetupinitializationbegins.
3.IntheWindowsSmallBusinessServer2011window,clickNewinstallation.
4.Whenallharddiskdrivesavailableontheserveraredisplayed,clickIunderstandthatifIclickInstall,
alllesandfoldersonmyprimaryharddrivewillbedeleted,andthenclickInstall.Theinstallation
processstarts.Theserverwillrestartmultipletimesduringtheinstallationprocess.
Notes:
•IfyouclickInstall,alllesandfoldersonyourprimaryharddiskdrivewillbedeleted.
•Ifnoharddiskdrivesaredisplayed,thisindicatesthatyoudonothaveadevicedriverinstalled.
Toinstalladevicedriver,clickLoaddrivers.
•Theentireharddiskdrivewillbeusedasoneprimarypartitionandapartitionwillbeautomatically
createdafterthesetupprocessnishes.
