UsingtheBIOSrecoveryjumper
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage70.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingthecoolingshroud”onpage73.
5.LocatetheBIOSrecoveryjumperonthesystemboard.See“Systemboardjumpers”onpage47.
Then,removeanypartsanddisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouraccesstothejumper.
Note:Donotremovethememorymodulesormicroprocessors.
6.MovetheBIOSrecoveryjumperfromthedefaultoffpositiontotheonposition.
7.Connecttheservertoanacpowersource.Theserverturnsonandthenturnsoffautomatically.
8.MovetheBIOSrecoveryjumperbacktotheoffposition.
9.Waitforabout20minutesfortheTSMtorecovertheBIOS.Topreventpermanentdamage,DO
NOTTURNOFFTHESERVERduringtherecoveryprocess.WhentheBIOSrecoveryprocessis
completed,theserverturnsonautomatically.
10.EnsurethattheSetupUtilityprogramstartsnormally.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”on
page55
.Then,disconnecttheserverfromtheacpowersource.
11.Reinstallanypartsandreconnectanycables.Then,reinstalltheservercover.See“Completing
thepartsreplacement”onpage175
.
12.Connecttheservertoanacpowersourceandturnontheserver.CheckandconfiguretheBIOS
settingsforyourspecificneeds.See“UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage55
