Thesparingmodeprovidesmemoryredundancy.Inthismode,theRASfeaturesareavailable.For
informationabouttheRASfeatures,refertotherelatedsectionin“Features”onpage8.
Note:Allmemorymodulestobeinstalledmustbethesametype(LVRDIMMorRDIMM).Itisalso
recommendedthatallmemorymoduleshavethesamefrequency,voltage,andnumberofranks.
Yourserversupportsranksparingmode.Inranksparingmode,onerankofamemorymoduleworksasthe
sparerankfortheotherranksonthesamechannel.Thesparerankisnotavailableassystemmemory.To
enableranksparingmode,ensurethat:
•Atleastthreeranksareavailableinonechannel.
•Thecapacityofthesparerankmustbethesamewithorlargerthanthecapacityofotherrankswithin
thesamechannel.
